When you play with someone by email, you have password for your turns, but you can enter the game, choose quickstart > choose Load > load mp by email any save and you will have possibility to play and reveal all map and see where your opponent is, play his turns even, that should not be possible it is no sens anymore to play by email for me when my opponent can load my save in quickstart mode and walk all map and see where am I etc :( I hope it will be fixed soon

Please edit your post to model it after the Bug Reports guidelines, and include a gamesave where this happens. This bug won't be fixed very well if no one can understand it...

I'm not saying this shouldn't be fixed. It should and should have since PTW.

But you might consider finding new opponents.

Pity that hasn't been repaired.

Richie, could you please use some periods and capitals next time?

Since the opponent has all the information in the save file anyways, if he really wanted to cheat, it would be almost impossible to stop him. I guess it would be a good idea to make it so that he couldn't cheat just using the normal game itself, but trying to make it so people can't cheat in a game of that type is not a very good thing to invest your time in, since the only thing that can ultimately prevent it is integrity.

Nice words Alweth. Maybe you are right. But this way it is far too easy.

When loading a PBEM game from a single player game, you will always get in and be able to play on. Not on;y checking out the enemy, but also making feasible future plans becomes easy.

I reported this bug, the day that the last PTW fix came out.

Firaxis sucks!

Stapel - this bug is in the list of "fixed" bugs for PTW1.27!!!!

It is?????

What a load of crap! It is pretty obvious it is not fixed! So apart from louzy software developers, Firaxis has hired a bunch of lyers too?

This really upsets me!

This happens in any PBEM game. So a savegame won't be needed, I guess.

The problem is that when a PBEM save (either your own or your opponents save) is loaded from a single player game (thus not from the start screen), it won't ask for a password and it will continue as if it were a single player game. This way you can cheat. Even worse: when playing a single player game, you suddenly hear the weewoo from outlook. You save the turn and load it by accident from the single player game. Before you are aware of it, you are staring at your opponents cities......

I has been reported 10 months ago AND noted by Firaxis. In the PTW 1.27 patch it was reported as solved, but it is NOT. The only thing that changed is that you cannot load any other (even not a single player) game, while playing a PBEM turn. This weird quasi solution doesn't solve a thing!

This was the very very first thing I checked when my C3C CD arrived yesterday. Quite disappointing....

Grrrr...

I would like to say 'unbelievable' - but sadly I do believe it :(

This is a serious bug!! I was harbouring great hopes that this bug would finally be quashed with C3C, I have been holding off instituting a secure regime for pre-made maps in the pbem ladder until this is fixed as there is just no point whilst this silly bug still exists.

The most annoying thing (more annoying than the fact that this is an OLD bug, more annoying than it being wrongly reported as FIXED in ptw1.27, even more annoying than the fact that it was brought up in the c3c chat and yet is still not fixed...) is that it seems to be a fairly easy thing to implement. Just check the MP flag in the sav game before loading it from single-player... if its a MP sav then don't load it. Easy shurely??

Alweth - Although it is true that you will never stop someone who is really determined to cheat from cheating there is a world of difference from this so-easy-it-beggars-belief bug and decompiling the sav file. I also agree that playing people you trust is a good practice but its nice to have some semblance of security for ladder games.

You know, these are the kind of bugs I don't want to see revealed...
Firaxis knows about it, but apparently didn't know how to fix it. I've found out this bug in the first pbem (or actually the second, those two turns of the agent orange game don't count...) I've played, and I stopped paying attention.
If you can't trust your opponent, don't play multiplayer. All other exploits are available to him as well... (although I know some people who will use everything available against you ;) )
