MP Problems

I want to play a regular game of Civ 3 Complete with a friend, but we can never get through. I join his game or joins mine but afterwards it bumps me off and counts to 20 forever. We can only do LAN or Hotseat. I did an MP game with a random person before but now I can't even do that.

We are trying a regular game of Civ 3 Complete. We are not connected to the same network. My Civ tries the connect through GameSpy, and I think my friend uses the same. We both have the same version of the game through the Gamestop App. We both have allowed the game through the firewall. We just can't connect.

Should we try through Hamaci or is there something that we are doing wrong?

Well Check the ports that you have open, the list of the ports you need open can be found in the firewall topic at the top of the page, and if that doesn't work then go ahead and try hamachi it works every time.
