"MS Paint" for Mac

I've been using a Mac at home for a couple months now, and I'm trying to sort everything out. What would be the rough equivalent of MS Paint (I'm running OS 10.4 on a MacBook)? I am aware that Gimp runs on OSX, and I'll likely end up installing that, but I'd like something easy for simple image edits. Is there something already installed that I'm just missing?

I used to use Photoshop Elements, which isn't free, but it does most of the things you'd want for editing images. I still have it, at version 4 for Leopard, but I got a copy of Pixelmator in the MacHeist bundle that was on offer recently, and that is really very sweet.

There's GraphicConverter, which is down-loadable shareware, and there's Tux Paint which is free, but looks a bit child-focused.

I tried to like Gimp, honest, but I *really* don't like having X-Windows running on my system. I'm too much of a Mac-head, I'm afraid. However, there's a Mac-native port called Seashore that you might want to look at.

I just did a search for Seashore, downloaded it and tried it for a couple of minutes. It appears to work flawlessly. I think its the program you are looking for.

JIC you were planning on joining me in making graphics for some of the mods in development:

The current version of Seashore does not seem to handle .pcx (the format C3C uses); GraphicConverter does.

Yes, .pcx is a very specific issue for the Mac. Not many packages handle it. I'm not sure why, as it seems a pretty simple format.

I just now got back around to working on my home computer, and I ended up going with Seashore. I've used Gimp on PC, and this line in Seashore's description sold me... "unlike the GIMP, Seashore only aims to serve the basic image editing needs of most computer users, not to provide a replacement for professional image editing products". Bingo!

Thanks for the help you guys. It took all of 10 seconds to DL and open up, and I'm doctoring up a map right now.
