Every time I edit a .GIF image using Paint, I get this annoying "blur" effect. It isn't really affecting anything, but is there any way of getting rid of it and having a crisp, sharp distinction between two pixels instead of the "blur"?

I do; I usually use something like Paint Shop Pro 7. However, for the job I'm currently doing, I need to do things precisely. Plus I like working w/ Paint better, since I've used it longer.

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions?

Well you can't get a job using paint, so I suggest you break your habbit and use Paint Shop Pro for what you want to do.

Well, I'm not doing this professionally anyway. It's more of fulfilling a hobby.

Anyway, do you have an answer for me? If not, I would like to politely request that you refrain from commenting.

Sorry, I was just trying to show you the evil of Paint.

I would suggest zooming in as far as possible and seeing if the blur continues, and also make sure your using the pencil tool. There is no reason for any blur, Paint doesn't even have anything that is a blur...

Apology accepted. Misunderstandings happen :)

1. No, it doesn't happen at the highest zoom level, and

2. Yeah, it happens using the pencil tool.

Essentially, the pixel itself is the desired color, but the color "bleeds" a little into the background of the neighboring ones. Also, when I add to it, the overall "shape" of adjacent pixels of the same color will distort itself a little.

Like I said earlier, I can live without a solution to this, but if there is one, I'd greatly appreciate it if whoever has it is willing to share.

I would try to do what you want to, then load it up in Paint Shop Pro or even a web browser to see if the bluriness is still there.

This is really strange and shouldn't be happening.

Is the bleeding happening while putting pixels down with the pencil tool, or only when saving? What are you saving as? Even if you want to use paint to edit, ALWAYS save it as bitmap and use something like IrfanView and convert it to your desired format. Paint's encoders suck.

1. Yeah, it happens when editing w/ pencil.

2. It doesn't bleed w/ new files (ie new .BMP files), but w/ currently-existing files, even if I re-save it in a .BMP format.

Thanks for the advice.
