Hi all,
First post here, so I apologise if I'm formatting this all wrong, but I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me.
In times gone by, I've had no problems playing multiplayer games with a friend of mine over the internet. Sure, my internet connection was pretty slow, and my PC wasn't very high-spec, but it still worked just fine. In the last week, however, my friend and I tried starting a new campaign together as he had received both R&F and GS for Christmas and was keen to try some of the newer features out. In the time since I last played with him, I have in fact upgraded my PC (it's still nothing special, but it's performing noticeably better than it was), and my internet connection is also faster now.
However, upon hitting 'end turn', we both have to wait anywhere between 10-20 minutes for the change of turns to be processed. Funnily enough, this isn't particularly conducive to playing. In the past, it might have been anywhere between 1-4 minutes processing time, which although not quick, was much more manageable.
I have scoured the internet for answers to this problem, and whilst it seems that other people have had the same issue, I couldn't find any solutions that have worked. I was hoping that some of the wonderful folks here might be able to suggest what might be going wrong!
In case you need them, my PC specs are as follows:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X2 550 (3.1GHz)
GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 1050Ti (Advanced Edition)
Memory: 12GB DDR3
I know my processor is old and not particularly quick, but it hasn't given me trouble in the past.
Internet Download Speed: ~20-30Mbps
Internet Upload Speed: ~9-10Mbps
Again, not the fastest, but it never caused me problems with Civ in the past.
Sorry for the long ol' post there. Thank you for reading it, and thanks for any help you might offer.
If this has already been solved, I'd really appreciate a link to the relevant thread. It's a bit of a maze in here!
