Hello,
My friends and I enjoy playing cooperatively on Civ against the AI. We generally play on Noble or Prince with anywhere from 3-5 opponents. We noticed that when we start a game all being permanently allied our research points are pooled together. I was wondering if anyone could explain to me the system in which research is divided up in this fashion, and if this format more challenging then to be on different teams from the start. Any info would be great.

Thanks

In direct response to your research points question - if you have twice as many players on your team, techs will cost you twice as many beakers. It would be far easier (albeit somewhat cheesy) to be on different teams but just form an unbreakable alliance the moment you meet, and swap techs amongst each other. Honestly, I would expect that to be too easy actually. Three Noble-skill humans playing that way could probably take on Emperor or Immortal difficulty that way.

Thank you. That post was very helpful. Its weird though my friends and I have no problem with Noble/Prince but the second we bump it up to the higher levels we cannot compete with the aggressive leaders in the game.
