Hello MPers. Been working on my site a bit, especially the Civ part of it, and I had an idea. Why not put up a directory of Civ II multiplayers that everyone can add to their buddy/contact lists? That way if any two or three or four of you happen to be in the mood for Civ you'll be able to easily contact each other. Of course I'm not going to put up anyone's Instant Messege info without their consent, hence the reason for this thread. If you'd like me to add you, please post!

BTW, my Civ links are @ http://www.narcity.com/fun/civilization.html , some are not active yet. Soon, soon...

P.S. : Also post if you have any other ideas or suggestions.

Is it possible to get all that on your list, and make it searchable? I'd love to have some way of locating people by time zone, or at least some way of knowing if an entry is 2 years stale.

This is a lot of work.

My feeling about initiating games through a messaging program is that it works beautifully for 2 player duels. For larger games, a thread titled "Tuesday GMT16-20" , for example, should work OK.

Maybe you could have a calander page, showing when and how long people are available.

I saw tha in your site Narz but didn't know how to add my details. here they are:

I added you guys. By the way, Sean, what is EST (Eastern Standard Time), is it GMT -5? Thanks

Anyone using windows can open the clock control panel. The "time zone" list will show your time relative to GMT, and most major cities as you scroll down the list. I guess Mac has something similar.

You and a good chunk of players are in the East, at GMT -5. I could say I'm at EST -3 (GMT -8), but think it fairer if everyone scheduals by GMT (anarchywrksbest time). That way the confusion is equal.

The international dateline makes my head spin. I'm as likely to think my way across that as the AI on a round world.

The problem is Daylight savings time. Right now I am not sure what we are in relation to GMT since it doesn't do it. EST is really EDT I beleive during this period.

Here's a link that may help. www.worldtimeserver.com

You can check the current time of any place on the globe, there. Also, you can download the freeware "Atomic Clock Sync", a cool little clock that tells you Universal Coordinated Time (GMT), as well as your own local time (with Daylight Saving Time noted). It's got the Buck Rogers name because it updates itself daily from a master clock.
