So, i started a new game yesterday, taking some of the tips I got from the General Discussion forum and implementing them. I am still building stuff wsy too fast, but that is for another time.
Anyhow - archipelago, standard, chieftain, randomized civs. Yeah, i know, chieftain. Just let me be weak, ok? Anyhow, I am America. I start the game, and within a few turns I get a goody hut that turns into a settler right by the lone mountain (there are hills, but no other mountains) on the island. I found a city, and a few turns later i send a settler from my capital to found another one. I control the entire half of an island at this point.
Several turns later, I stumble across the Aztecs, who have 2 cities at the northern end of the island. Stupid jaguar warriors. Well, I fast track iron working, and when the research completes, there is 1 source of iron. Yeah, that lone mountain i control. I could not possibly have smiled any wider.
I created 8 or so swordsmen across my 3 cities, and laid seige to the Aztecs. They stood no chance.
