Spoiler :

Unofficial results on Saturday said Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf [Images] has won the presidential poll, state television reported.

Musharraf got 252 out of 257 votes cast in Parliament, CEC Qazi M Farooq said.

Security was tightened in Islamabad and the four provincial capitals of Karachi, Quetta, Peshawar and Lahore [Images].

Large numbers of policemen were deployed outside the assembly buildings.

In Islamabad, the police put up concrete barricades around Parliament House and checked all persons entering the building.

Polling started at 10 am and continued till 3 pm at the national and provincial assemblies.

Each member of the Senate and National Assembly had one vote while every provincial assembly had votes equal to its strength.

There are 342 members in the National Assembly, 100 in the Senate and 728 in the provincial assemblies. A total of 87 lawmakers of the National Assembly and more than 100 provincial assembly members resigned ahead of the poll.

Parliament votes for President in Pakistan?!

Considering the alternative is it really all that bad.

So the opposition is all taliban?? Are you crazy?

No, but they are definently Anti-American. Musharraf is at least aiding the United States in searching the mountain region in Northwestern Pakistan for the Taliban and Al Qaeda fighters.

No I'm not crazy. I'm realistic. The greatest opposition to the prez. is fundamentalist muslim nut jobs who support the Taliban and Bin Laden. You know the people who keep trying to assassinate him. Educate your self.

And where is that quote that says US intel says 50% of the arms in Iraq came from Saudi Arabia.

So dictators are good if the aid the US then?

Pervez Musharraf was just elected to a third term.

Dictators are elected according to george. He thinks Bush is a dictator.

You've already used Crazy Ramble #435 from the Insan-O Almanac™ today:

Sure and the bodies and survivors found in iraq are not news worthy right?

Because the president and his co. want to go to "candy land in the sky?"

Just helping out Cap'n....

Correct. The issue mainly being that Musharraf is still head of the army, IIRC.

What happens if the results are rejected?

Frankly, I think not much will change if it is approved or rejected. American backed military dictatorships tend to be fairly stable.

Musharaff is on the same league as Chávez, that is, dictators in evertyhing but name.

The difference is that in Venezuela the opposition is better than Chávez, in Pakistan they are for the most part worse (though I'm sure there is also a democratic opposition that gets repressed. The ones who are worse are the radical muslims who hate democracy more than Musharraff).

Probably so...but I do wonder if there is some kind of legal recourse for resolving that situation. Of course, Musharraf just just do a re-coup or something and that's the end of it.

No i said since people think the president of Valenzuela is a dictator i said that from 2000 to 2006 bush was a dictator!

Sure and they don't kill their people either too right?

Pervez Musharraf was just elected to a third term.
Term limit is 2 and he can not be president and in the military or been in the military for 2 years. Thats like a current general running for president and winning. DO you think the supreme court would allow it? (I think not!)

Sure and they don't kill their people either too right?
 Sorry - I don't understand what you are saying. Can you be more clear ??
For instance - who did you mean by "they", "their people" and what other event is the "too" referencing to ?
