Hey, y’all! Now that the leader depiction elimination thread is over, which seemed to be pretty popular, I’ve decided to open one on the musical themes for each Civ. There was one last year, but since the release of several DLC and the Rise & Fall expansion, another contest seemed prudent.

The rules, as with all elimination games, are fairly simple:

- All civs begin with 20 Points.
- Any civ that hits 0 points is eliminated.
- You may vote once per day.
- Add 1 point to civs you upvote.
- Subtract 3 points from civs you downvote.
- Give a reason for your vote.
- Keep the replies civil and on-topic.
- Have fun! :D

The first civilization eliminated will appear at the bottom of the list, and the last civilization remaining will appear at the top of the list:

Arabia (Üsküdara)- 20

Scythia (Traditional Melody)- 20
Spain (Recuerdos de la Alhambra)- 20
Sumeria (Hurrian Hymn)- 20
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 21 = 20 + 1. Hands down the best music. A uniquely African sound and very catchy.

America (Hard Times Come Again No More)- 21
Arabia (Üsküdara)- 20
Australia (Waltzing Matilda)- 17 (20-3) destroy the whole atmosphere even since you have met Aussie.
Aztec (Traditional Nahua Melody)- 20
Brazil (Brejeiro)- 20
China (Jasmine Flower)- 20
Cree (The Drums of Poundmaker) - 20
Egypt (El Helwa Di)- 20

Scythia (Traditional Melody)- 21 (+1) Sad yet beautiful, rhythmic, echoing.
Spain (Recuerdos de la Alhambra)- 20
Sumeria (Hurrian Hymn)- 20
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 20

America (Hard Times Come Again No More)- 22 = (21+1) Better with every era as stated previously. The music beginning soft and building up really provides an era atmosphere of a fledgling empire rising - or perhaps not rising - through that era.
Arabia (Üsküdara)- 20
Australia (Waltzing Matilda)- 17
Aztec (Traditional Nahua Melody)- 20
Brazil (Brejeiro)- 20
China (Jasmine Flower)- 20
Cree (The Drums of Poundmaker) - 17 = 20-3 Too vocal. The first time I heard the death wailing provided pleasant atmosphere to my game. By the second and third game playing The Cree I turned the music off after a few eras.
Egypt (El Helwa Di)- 20
England (Scarborough Fair)- 20
France (Tourdion: Quand je bois du vin clairet)- 20

Persia (Kereshme + Reng-e Shalakhu)- 20

Scotland (Scotland the Brave; Bonnie Dundee) - 20
Scythia (Traditional Melody)- 21
Spain (Recuerdos de la Alhambra)- 20
Sumeria (Hurrian Hymn)- 20
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 20

@HoorayForSiam's votes were skipped. This is fixed in my vote.

America (Hard Times Come Again No More)- 22
Arabia (Üsküdara)- 20
Australia (Waltzing Matilda)- 17
Aztec (Traditional Nahua Melody)- 20-3=17 - I don't have any major problems with any theme. But Aztec themes are one of those I find to be somewhat bland and uninteresting to me.
Brazil (Brejeiro)- 17
China (Jasmine Flower)- 20
Cree (The Drums of Poundmaker) - 17
Egypt (El Helwa Di)- 20
England (Scarborough Fair)- 20
France (Tourdion: Quand je bois du vin clairet)- 20
Georgia (Shen Khar Venakhi; Tsaiqvanes Tamar Kali) - 20
Germany (Ich hab die Nacht geträumet)- 20
Greece (Epitaph of Seikilos)- 20
India (Vaishnav Jana to tene)- 20
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 20
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby)- 20
Khmer (Khmer Rourm Sam Mawgee) - 20
Kongo (Banaha)- 20
Korea (Arirang) - 20
Macedon (Tino Mori)- 20
Mapuche (Traditional Mapuche Song) - 20
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 20+1=21 - Mongolian themes, both war and peace, are one of my favourites in Civ V. It was easy to imagine Mongolian steppes or a horde of Mongols on horses attacking and sacking a city when you listened to these themes. I really liked the fact that I could hear the same song as in Civ V in their first look and first listen, and I wished to hear the Mongolian themes most out of all R&F Civs (well, ok, Georgian themes were on the same level :p). The Mongolian themes were the first themes I listened when Firaxis released the soundtrack on YouTube, and I loved them, although I have to admit that I simply like their Civ V counterpart more. Along with Zulu and Georgia, Mongolia has my favourite R&F themes, and even if it isn't as good as perfect Civ V Mongol themes, it certainly deserves an upvote from me.
Netherlands (Gaillarde L’esmerillone) - 17
Norway (Gjendine's Lullaby)- 20
Nubia (Allah Musau) - 20
Persia (Kereshme + Reng-e Shalakhu)- 20
Poland (Hej ide w las)- 20
Rome (Magna Mater)- 20
Russia (Kalinka)- 20
Scotland (Scotland the Brave; Bonnie Dundee) - 20
Scythia (Traditional Melody)- 21
Spain (Recuerdos de la Alhambra)- 20
Sumeria (Hurrian Hymn)- 20
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 21

I've not done a elimination thread before but as soon as I saw we get to voice our views on the music; I had to join in! (EDITED to show previous numbers; didn't realise what you had to do at first)

America (Hard Times Come Again No More)- 20
Arabia (Üsküdara)- 17
Australia (Waltzing Matilda)- 20
Aztec (Traditional Nahua Melody)- 20
Brazil (Brejeiro)- 20
China (Jasmine Flower)- 20
Cree (The Drums of Poundmaker) - 17
Egypt (El Helwa Di)- 20
England (Scarborough Fair)- 20
France (Tourdion: Quand je bois du vin clairet)- 20
Georgia (Shen Khar Venakhi; Tsaiqvanes Tamar Kali) - 20
Germany (Ich hab die Nacht geträumet)- 20
Greece (Epitaph of Seikilos)- 20
India (Vaishnav Jana to tene)- 20
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 20
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby)- 17 (17-3) probably not the worst track in the world, but I was at launch and still am very disappointed with Japan's themes. I love Japan so much in game and in real life; but the music is just so lacklustre and is probably the most forgettable in my opinion; I wish they did better.
Khmer (Khmer Rourm Sam Mawgee) - 20
Kongo (Banaha)- 20
Korea (Arirang) - 20
Macedon (Tino Mori)- 20
Mapuche (Traditional Mapuche Song) - 20
Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 21
Netherlands (Gaillarde L’esmerillone) - 17
Norway (Gjendine's Lullaby)- 20
Nubia (Allah Musau) - 20
Persia (Kereshme + Reng-e Shalakhu)- 20
Poland (Hej ide w las)- 20
Rome (Magna Mater)- 20
Russia (Kalinka)- 20
Scotland (Scotland the Brave; Bonnie Dundee) - 20
Scythia (Traditional Melody)- 21
Spain (Recuerdos de la Alhambra)- 20
Sumeria (Hurrian Hymn)- 20
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 22 (21+1) I didn't think anything can beat the Khmer with catchy-ness, which is still true; but the simplicity in melody for the Zulu with beautiful voices that seem so dreamy and unreal, all growing and evolving to the point where they systhasize the voices in the Atomic era which I did not think would be possible for a Civ game! This quartet of themes are just pure Zulu magic!

America (Hard Times Come Again No More)- 22
Arabia (Üsküdara)- 20
Australia (Waltzing Matilda)- 17
Aztec (Traditional Nahua Melody)- 17
Brazil (Brejeiro)- 17
China (Jasmine Flower)- 20
Cree (The Drums of Poundmaker) - (17+1)=18 I definitely would be disappointed if this was eliminated first. I love Native American chanting, and it's not "death wailing". :nono: It's more unique then the themes with just instrumental music. It gets better to listen to as the eras pass by, with more instrumentation/orchestra added to the chanting. You have to understand that the human voice is an important instrument in Amerindian cultures. Without it, the melody would just be flutes and drums. I liked the Shoshone themes in Civ5, but the chanting makes the theme more authentic. The fact that Geoff Knorr worked with real Cree singers is the icing on the cake.
Egypt (El Helwa Di)- 20
England (Scarborough Fair)- 20
France (Tourdion: Quand je bois du vin clairet)- 20
Georgia (Shen Khar Venakhi; Tsaiqvanes Tamar Kali) - 20
Germany (Ich hab die Nacht geträumet)- 20
Greece (Epitaph of Seikilos)- (20-3)=17 Compared to Civ5's version, it's kind of uninteresting. Alexander Peace really inspired me, but these themes were a let down. I think vocals would have helped immensely (it would for many of the Civ6 vanilla themes). I wanted them to pick a different song, even if it was a Greek song from a later period.
India (Vaishnav Jana to tene)- 20
Indonesia (Rejang Dewa; Bapang Selisir) - 20
Japan (Itsuki Lullaby)- 17

Greece (Epitaph of Seikilos) - 17

Aztec (Traditional Nahua Melody)- 17
Brazil (Brejeiro)- 17
China (Jasmine Flower)- 17
Cree (The Drums of Poundmaker) - 18 + 1 = 19. Easily the best theme.

Aztec (Traditional Nahua Melody)- 17
Brazil (Brejeiro)- 17
China (Jasmine Flower)- 17
Cree (The Drums of Poundmaker) -19
Egypt (El Helwa Di)- 20

Norway (Gjendine's Lullaby)- 20

Spain (Recuerdos de la Alhambra)- 20
Sumeria (Hurrian Hymn)- 20 - 3 = 17 (A dull theme, and no, not based on the Hurrian Hymn, according to Geoff Knorr. Unlike the original Scythian theme (also not based on the Traditional Melody indicated here, according to Geoff Knorr), this one is a bit weaker and less memorable.)
Zulu (Uthe Ubhuti) - 22

@Morningcalm Remember to subtract 3 points from civs you downvote! Sumeria should be at 17.

America (Hard Times Come Again No More)- 22
Arabia (Üsküdara)- 20
Australia (Waltzing Matilda) - 12 (15 - 3) -- I hate didgeridoos, and "Waltzing Matilda" is an annoying melody to begin with.
Aztec (Traditional Nahua Melody)- 17
Brazil (Brejeiro)- 17
China (Jasmine Flower)- 17
Cree (The Drums of Poundmaker) - 20 (19 + 1) -- Probably my second favorite theme after Georgia's; should not be this low.

America (Hard Times Come Again No More)- 22
Arabia (Üsküdara)- 20

Brazil (Brejeiro)- 17
China (Jasmine Flower)- 17

Mongolia (Pastoral Song; Urtin Duu) - 21
Netherlands (Gaillarde L’esmerillone) - 14 (17-3) Really bland and forgettable, especially compared to Civ V. Sounds like generic European background music to me.
