I usually go for Priesthood first, then Masonry, so I can start the Oracle as soon as possible.

Well as far as opening tech, i was trying to beeline, since I was in the mindset of the Mayans (the last one I did). I realize that was kinda dumb. As for the villages, it just didn't occur to me. Haha, I said it was a let's play, not a GOOD let's play.

In my current game as Greece, I got UHV and kept playing. Now 1900 and still leading, with my protectorate Germany gobbling up wonders before I get them

Why not settle Frankfurt after Germany spawns (or Kiev after Russia spawns) if you have problems on building wonders?
