My downloading isn't working!!!

Help!
After I download files (which goes just fine) I can't extract them. It just says "File invalid or corrupted", despite everything else going fine. I've only really tried from Civfanatics and Apolyton, and I am using XP (grrr...). Can anyone help?

What kind of program downloader are you using?

If your just using IE, then you can try another one...like www.getright.com or www.gozillia.com but are free.

Have you tried redownloading the files? Whenever I get a HL or CS patch they are ALWAYS corrupted the first time And their like 150 MB over 56k!!! All that damn redownloading....anyway....they work the second or third time.
