[BTS] My Game of Thrones Mod

    Hi,

    Ive been a lurker for a while, and i had been working on a Game of Thrones mod for Civ 4 a while ago that i abandoned. After reading that modding BTS is a lot easier, i thought i would start again from scratch modding the BTS expansion pack, mainly because my old files are on a laptop i dont use anymore. I enjoy the artistic side of the process, so i started again from scratch. The overall concept really is a mishmash of The Ice of Fire lore, and the tv series. I wanted to include houses that i think are quite cool, that didnt really feature in the tv series. I have included Houses that have been extinct at the time of the tv series, like Gardener and Mudd.. I have reskinned unit models downloaded from here, i will compile credits if i have the info of who created the units i donwloaded from. I do have nifskope and blender and have tried creating my own units, i may go back to that. I have never made a mod before, so i have made a lot of mistakes, and will continue to, but i'm learning through doing.
    I have made some montages of units i have reskinned and wanted to showcase here. I have made 5 different units for each House. I will add more minor houses and different types of unique units. I have focused mostly on making the new civs (Houses) and units for them. I haven't quite decided whether i will make some of the minor houses playable or not.

    If so we are soon to release a new version of Medieval Conquest which might make an excellent base for a GoT Mod.

    The benefit of M:C is you will have a supported .dll source code and you can focus on making units, etc.

    Yes, the first two work now (you changed them from photos.google to drive.google).

    That's some nice graphic work! :)

    thanks for the feedback, will fix that. have been working on my Lord of Winterfell unit. the base is the Viking Beserker modified in blender, unwrapped and reskinned.
    i plan to have a 'general' unit for each culture: First Men, Andals, Rhoynar, Valyrian.

    all the first men generals will be the same unit, but reskinned for each house, the same for the others.
    First Men: The Northern, Stormlands, Riverlands and Iron Isles.
    Andals: The Vale, Westerlands, The Reach
    Rhoynar: Dorne
    Valyrian: Dragonstone, Crownlands

    i finished the first men unit this morning, and skinned for the Lord of Winterfell unit (holding Ice). I like a lot of the costume and armour in the tv series, so will be based mainly on the tv series.

    I have come back to the mod after a little break from it. i am in the process of customising each region, giving them their own look and feel more instead of using the same unit models for each house. i have updated the stark faction, instead of a house champion and mace knight, i have a mounted knight and master at arms. I wanted to keep to the Northern look and feel, no chivalry or frills for the knights, using the hbo show as a basis. My Stark Master at Arms is from House Cassel, just like Ser Rodrik Cassel in the game of thrones storyline. His House sigil is 10 wolfs heads on a field of grey.

    i have now done House Bolton and House Manderly, the unit templates are the same, but skinned differently. the Bolton master at arms is from House Whitehill, house sigil is a white pile inverted on indigo, with a single 4 pointed star above. The House Manderly master at arms is from House Waterman, their sigil has two brown oars crossed on white, between a pair of blue flaunches. I have programmed the game in the unitclass xml file to only allow 1 master at arms unit per player at any one time.

    i've done quite a bit over the long weekend. I have dropped quite a few Houses, i am limiting myself to 2 houses per Kingdom. I am even probably going to drop Houses Hightower and Tarth as, although i like Tarth, there is no real rivalry with House Baratheon, I'll be dropping House Hightower for the same reason, i will probably put in House Florent, as they do have a known rivalry with the Tyrells, and maybe House Connington in the Stormlands. I have added House Reyne and Yronwood, i may add the Blackfyres and maybe a Stannis Baratheon of Dragonstone faction. I want to have two traditional belligerents in each Kingdom, like the Starks vs the Boltons, Tullys v Freys, Lannisters and Reynes, Yronwoods and Martells. etc its tough to find legitimate feuding houses in the Stormlands and the Vale though.

    Anyway here are the latest models: (i havent bothered with the light cavalry, its just the spearman on a horse. the light cavalry for House Targaryen are horsemen from House Massey in the Crownlands, one of the first houses to swear allegiance to Aegon Targaryen)

    some of the units havent been made yet, or are being changed/tweaked. i'll have a big task with the Lords/Commanders, especially as Blender is being temperamental at the moment, wont let me import NIF files for some reason, even though i could before :S

    It will enable ranged attacks, which is what I used for my Long Range Mod.

    do i have to do anything else on xml, i made those changes and my xml has spazzed out with a xml error

    You shouldn't have to do anything else.

    Can you post the error or the XML file (or both)?
