I have really been digging Civ5 so far. My Japanese cities of Kitsune and Kaede are going nicely and we are getting well into the medieval age. I have built my first major road and though I have attempted to be diplomatic and peaceful with all nations, Julius Caesar, who seems to have something against me for no reason, will soon learn fear as my samurai will come into existence in about 20ish turns.

I was really enjoying the fact that my wife seemed initially supportive of me playing this game, as it is nice looking and not as violent as, say Starcraft 2, which she hates. She also liked how it played with history a bit and set up some unique scenarios...

However, at about midnight last night (on a school night mind you (Im a teacher)), my wife showed her teeth.

This game is apparently eating up our "us time" in a way few other games have done before.

I fear that there will be no patch for this....

My main gripe with everything (spoiler... it's a woman)

fixed

Spoiler :
not kidding

Most definitely any CIV game can eat up your time like no other game can. It is the nature of the beast. I am also married and found there is a relatively straight forward solution to this problem. All you need to remember are the 2 Ds.....Diamonds or Divorce. Either one will solve this isuue right away but remember if you choose the later to make sure she doesn't get the computer in the settlement. :king:

Uh, the game has been out for two days.

If your woman can't handle you playing for a couple days, then you have big problems. More specifically, she has big problems. She needs a hobby of her own. Or counseling.

Forgot to mention in my previous post....there is also a temporary cure that worked for a while with my first wife. Sign her up on Match.com. This way she can find somone to occupy her time for a while whilst you enjoy the beauty that is CIV.

its called wife aggro in other games.

luxury seems to have short term effect... they seem to demand even more time after a few luxuries.

im my experience, only 2 things helped

Spoiler :
Caffeine and sleep deprivation

Giv'er the " us time " (never mistake with u.s. time or it will bring back minutemen memories) and the apply the solution above

r0ck
yet with a family, 5 civ's l8r

You need more happiness. Try luxury items.

seriously, though... then spend more "us time" and put CiV into the "me time" instead of going to the pub or watching footie, if you do so. Alternatively, addict her to CiV - but this means even less CiV playing for you :p

Cheers, LT.

lol, there is nothing wrong with her, and don't let the game come between you, c'mon it's your wife dude.

Try finding something for her to do, or even sit her down and let her play it so she understands.

Ah Wife aggro (Or Fiance aggro here).

It's why my last Civ4 game is still 1830 and about 5 turns from conquest victory. It's why I've still not seen the Inbetweeners Season 3 opener. It's why I haven't raided Icecrown. It's why I've got £1.82 in the bank until Monday ("But I *NEED* a holiday this summer!").

I could go on. brb, getting my balls from her handbag.

I like the "get her addicted too" idea... I still have lofty dreams of building a second computer so we can game together, side by side, in our geek room...

...

......

wish me luck. lol

my better half is going on a shopping trip with her mother this weekend. I couldn't go, of course, since I've got so much work to do. Yeah, work.

Well, is it? I mean, maybe she's right and you playing 9 hours a day means you got no time left for her ;)

whats with the "voice of reason"?
i wouldnt let her play, especially if you only have 1 computer!! 2civfanatics, 1 computer isnt going to mix well

now you have to apease her somehow, i would go with the luxurys (flowers, chocolate, dinner and girly dvd), that should buy you some time for civ .. in the end u are going to have to give up some time or she may take you along to a civ anon meeting .. need to keep away from that!! .... oh she might divorse u also and as long as she doesnt get half your computer or steam account u can play civ all day and night long :D

"Wife Aggro" makes me lol. I had never heard that awesome name for it.
