One of the aspects I find civ VII lacking in most is the game setup screen. I'm the type of player that wants to control every detail in game setup and world generation to create very specific games, and I find the setup options in civ VII extremely lacking.
Here's just a few options that I think should have been in the game, and should be added in the future.
Game setup:
- Single player teams (Now and then I found it amusing to join forces with AI players and battle together against other teams of AI. This feature was also in civ V)
- Player count!!! (I find it very limiting that the max number of players is only 8. In my typical game i play with around 18-20 civs. I get that there are only 10 civs per era to choose from, 11/12 with DLC, but that brings me to my second point
Game rules:
- Duplicate civs/leaders (Like I said, I like to play with many AI opponents. Give me the option for multiple leaders to play the same civ! Let me have a Roman empire fractured between Augustus and Charlemagne!)
- Raging Barbarians/IP's (This option was always fun)
Map Setup:
- More sizes (Devs have said they're planning to work on this, but honestly it is absurd that the largest map size is standard at game launch. We shouldn't have to rely on modders for functions so basic. Thankfully we have an amazing mod community <3)
- More map options (Previous installments had options for world age, climate, rainfall, sea level etc. Give me my customization back!!! They add so much variety)
What game setup options are you missing in civ VII?
