I'm guessing you asked for a PCR? ;)

I say someone is no longer a newb when they've been around for 2 years.

Come and see the violence inherent in the system!! Help help, I'm bein' oppressed!!

Oh, and to actually be on-topic here, I think one loses their n00bidity when they participate in a current-events thread and regulars learn something they didn't know from it.

Depends on the forum really, ie the other posters.

Also depends if you just keep asking questions and never post any answers - I guess that's a pretty universal definition of noob.

When you post "I'm leaving OT for good" you're no longer a noob.

That'd disqualify a lot of people, no? :)

I don't know per se. You could be here a week and have a large post count per day yet be here for four years and have three posts. A good balance between the two is best. A couple months of regular posting.

The term n00b is stupid. Anybody who uses it often needs to be executed

By time I am probobly still a n00b (horroble word), but by posts I probobly am not.

    Other ideas are:
    1. When you get TF to reply to one of your posts
    2. When you stop trying to draw attention to yourself
    3. When you have a half decent sig
    4. When you are no longer scared of people with more then 1000 posts
    5. When you realise you are a geek

I dont know why it is important though

When you've been here as long as I have, you cease to be a nub.

When you stop making stupid threads like this.

No, really, there are differences between a n00b and a newbie. A n00b is someone who spams the board and acts stupid and has horrible grammar and is likely despised by much of the board, or at the least not liked. A newbie, on the other hand, is someone who is merely new; he may be intelligent, polite, respectful and a valuable acquisition to the board, he is just not an old timer. You may be both a newbie and a noob at the same time.

Yea this thread is high up in the noob-o-meter. But in any case you have to define the difference between newbie and noob.

Newbies are people we just pick on because they are new, sometimes may be a noob aswell.

Noobs are for lack of a better word idiots, they never learn and post threads much worse then this, however had this been a first post thread on being a noob you will be branded by the CFC Branding Center (CFCBC) OFFICAL NOOB straight on your forehead.

Off Topic has to be the least forgiving forum in CFC.

Thats why its best to start elsewhere when posting, get maybe a 100 posts in another part of CFC then come here so not to seem noobish or newbish, also lurking is good for them.

That's almost so obvious it makes you a n00b.

A n00b is a stupid new person, so I would say one becomes a n00b if they:

Have less than 300 posts, or has joined less than a year ago
Have posts reflect either their blatant stupidity (question threads don't count unless if they are stupid beyond comprehension), or has excessive 1337 talk.

A newbie is someone who fits under the join date/post requirement, except doesn't have the blatant stupidity and excessive 1337 talk.

Older members will be just silly/annoying people if they meet the 1337/stupidity requirement.

When you have achieved at least 5 bans and many more warnings you are no longer a noob.
