If enough interest is shown, this game will feature an all out struggle for domination as we play as one of the 8 European civilizations with the other 7 as rivals. This means our choices are:

-Russia
-France
-England
-Germany
-Spain
-Scandanavia
-Netherlands
-Portugal

Settings are open for discussion but I was thinking of playing on either a small continents or a mid-sized archipelago map. Difficulty is also up for debate but I'd prefer to keep it between Monarch and Emperor. Our goal is conquest but we'll keep all other options open as well.

Any Suggestions? :)

Sorry for the comment, I don't want to be a nitpicker, but IMHO the Celts, the Romans and the Greeks are also European. You could even add in the Byzantines and the Turks, but those two are on the edge.

I would join, but since my skills lack a little due to a lack of time, I'll pass on this one.

Greetings Jurimax

The Romans and Greeks are Mediterranean...

I hate to burst your bubble, but what does that have to do with anything? Rome (Italy) and Greece are very much part of Europe. The European borders are the Atlantic Ocean in the west, the Mediterranean in the south and then up though the Bosporus, the Black Sea and the Ural Mountains in the east.

Also, no C3C for me yet, so I can't join though I like the idea.

yes I did forget the celts. While perhaps Rome and Greece are technically in Europe, they are from a completely different era (The others are from after Rome's demise!). They don't fit in well with the theme of this game, as Rome and Greece never coexisted with any of the other European civilizations. Missing the Celts was an oversight on my part.

Of course this is all pointless as I have no signups yet and am just hypothesizing what the game will be if anyone ever wants to join it :p

I'm sure the Greeks will be unhappy to learn that they are only technically in Europe and doesn't matter. After all, their nation has been there for thousands of years if we disregard the years where it was part of the Ottoman Empire or the Macedonian Empire.

Actually, I'd like to know what your paremeters are for deciding which civs are European. Greece had a golden age long ago, true, and the same with Rome, but it could easily be argued that the Celts did as well. They are from the same era as Rome. These two (Rome and Celts) are the nations that didn't coexist at that time. Greece is still an independent nation.

In any way I think you should go with Scandinavia. Amphibious assualts and quicker moving on a pelago map (seafaring now, right?) which should combine nicely.

I'll but out now :)

My point is that Rome and Greece peaked much MUCH earlier than any of these civs. The real reason is: I was just going by cultural group, so the Romans and Greeks are sent packing to make room for the glorious European civs :p

Explanation accepted :D I'd like to join, but have no idea when I'll get to pick up Conquests. I have ordered it from England, but if it shows up in Denmark first I might buy it here and cancel the order. I'll keep an eye on this thread :)

EDIT: I've just spoken to my local store. They had Conquests for sale last Friday, but were told to remove it from the shelves on Saturday. It will be out for sale again on Friday and I plan to pick it up there. Assuming I get it working I would like to join this game. I could use an easy game to get to know it.

Though I hope you can cover for eventual mistakes ;) Well, three days until Conquests for me and I'm getting worried. For some reason I've had massive problems in two monarch games I played. Figured I needed something relaxing to retire PTW with, but I almost lost one of them and the other is going to be more work than expected. But I do have two solo Emperor wins under my belt.
