N3S II: The Eagle Awakens

Actually, Moldava is extremelly likely to join Romania within the early 21st century.

Oh. Thanks. :)

There might also be something between Russia and Kazakhstan,

As in, a union? Never heard of that particular possibility.

and ofcourse in Africa (mostly the north-south splits in Sudan and West Africa). Just some ideas; the map at present looks too unchanged for my lurking comfort. ;)

I can't see Africa Balkanizing much further than what I've got. So I'm sticking with it. :)

Did the UK actually adopt the euro? What changed that the EU actually ratified its constitution?

The UK adopted the Euro after years of heckling from other European nations.

The EU united mostly out of fear.

But President Obama? *insert significant skepticism here*

It's not too unlikely. And most other alternatives are unlikely as well. :p

Also, is that Jordan in West Bank?

A mistake. Granted, I'm not exactly sure what to do with Israel...

Btw, yes. If Belarus joins Russia AND Ukraine fails to join the EU, Ukraine's very independence becomes pretty much untenable. It has too difficult a strategic position.

What's Russia going to do, invade? :p Seriously, though, I can see them being in dire straits, but not falling to pieces.

A CALL FOR THE RETURN OF DECENCY
A STATEMENT ISSUED ON THE HOUSE FLOOR
NOVEMBER 25th, 2030

constitutionzz6.jpg

Where law ends, tyranny begins. Such words were written by John Locke, one of the greatest minds in history - and indeed, one of the minds which our founding fathers looked to as they penned the great document of our nation - the Constitution. Never have these statements wrung truer than today. You all know what I am speaking of - I am speaking of our own Mr. President, a man whom we charged with the defense of our nation and the defense of our liberties. A man whom, as we have found out in these recent weeks, is in the pocket of interests contrary to the interests of the American People. Never before in history have we seen such corruption - such abuse of power.

Yet, ultimately, the blame must be shared. For as Locke said - Where law ends, tyranny begins. We, the congress, are the law and in our complacency we did not do what the american people elected us to do - we did not do what our founding fathers meant us to do. We allowed ourselves, as a branch of the government, to be dwarfed by the abuses of the Executive Branch. We, for fear of change, for fear of too much chaos, did not provide any oversight. Our government was set up under three branches of power, each complementing and regulating the other. But when one branch fails to do its duty, as we have failed, then our perfect Union can no longer function as a free democracy, as a government. We, just as the man whom we called to lead us, have failed the American people. We have failed to regulate our nation and we have failed to provide crucial oversight. It is the supreme and only duty of the government to protect the liberties of its people - but we, in fear of losing our seats and our power, did not protect those liberties.

We have disgraced ourselves in front of the world. We have made a fallacy of what our founding fathers, and what congressmen before us have tried to protect and nurture. We are no better than he, he who would rather profit from bribes and lies than govern his own nation. But we have a chance. We have a chance for redemption, a light where for him there is no light.

I call on every congressmen in this chamber and every Senator in theirs to support me and the American People. I call on you to excercise your duties as outlined in the Constitution. I call on every last one of you to do what must be done for your constiuents - the United States of America. I call on this congress to begin immediately the impeachment proceedings of President Daniels and his Vice President, Harry Wilmington. We have already allowed this matter to get quite out of hand and to do nothing at this hour would be inexcuseable.

I, as a firm believer in our nation, will not stand any longer for this corruption and abuse of power and I call on you, Representatives of our great nation, to support me.

- Julien Aristides (F), Representative for the 9th District of Massachusetts

As in, a union? Never heard of that particular possibility.

It had been often suggested in the previous decade, then kinda got buried, but can be revived at any point. Northern Kazakhstan has sizeable Russian presences, and the Russian business is very influential there, so technically economic and later political integration is quite possible, especially if a precedent is set. Along with Belarus its the most likely direction for such peaceful expansion.

What's Russia going to do, invade?

There are lots of options, but technically it doesn't really have to do anything apart from keeping some economic pressure. Barring an Ukrainean dictatorship scenario (which DOES give Russia a good pretext to invade), the western faction will probably not survive diplomatic failure and inevitably whoever comes to power will be under constant pressure to switch back to the Russian cooperation scenario (for economic reasons first and foremost, ofcourse).

Mind you, I don't quite see why it can't join the EU if the latter actually proves as viable as this...

Hmm. What else have I got on my plate? *checks*
Dead Hqnes, zombie World of Magic, simplified Abandoned Stars, dead Greatest Show... looks like I have time.

The one thing about that I have a problem with. See preview thread and you will understand why.

WILL COPY BACKGROUND FROM PREVIEW HERE SHORTLY!

I happen to be born in Minnesota IRL, and I don't see a word about reservations in this thread, so I'm sticking to the state. But I'll move to Bloomington if it makes you happy. EDIT: Above post now edited.

Since you're here, can you log on AIM and talk to me?

I have no problem with splitting Minnesota. I don't expect you to give that up. I just don't want to share a city. I can move if you'd like.

Well, really there's no such thing as a BA in law, at least not in the US.

The standard law degree--that (essentially) all lawyers have--is the JD.

Out of curiosity, Josef, any possibility you have some co-founders of the American Patriot Party who quit various other parties? :mischief:

EDIT: Also, shortguy is right, there is no BA in Law. Law is graduate level. Also, not to be a stickler, but Farow, I assume you had some sort of Bachelor's? hehe

Rising to the Call
A Second to the Motion to Impeach
From where I stand in this hallowed chamber, I see men who have lost their way. I see a government who has sold its soul to the devils of avaricious greed. I see men who have fallen short of the standard set before them by their forerunners. Oh, make no mistake, my eyes see my own chair as much as any of yours. But we are all as guilty as President Daniels and Vice President Wilmington.

Even so, we are still men. Yes, we are men and as such we are capable of, as our esteemed colleague has said, redemption. But that redemption must go hand-in-hand with purification or it is meaningless. We may forgive the President and the Vice President, but we cannot, for their good and the good of the nation, allow them to continue serving in their fallen status. We do not damn them. That is an issue for the Almighty. But they must be held accountable for failing to properly execute the positions in which they were entrusted.

We must declare a crusade against corruption. This is only the beginning. We must stand united, across party lines, across geographical divides, across ethnic backgrounds or religious beliefs. We must make a statement to the world that corruption will no longer be tolerated in the American government and no person is above the law.

-John Hewlitt, Representative for the 2nd District of North Carolina

IC:

Representative James Lee of the Californian 42nd District seconds the motion to impeach.

OCC: My person is pretty simple starting small online businesses and his wife really is not that powerful. District manager of Target really is not that high of an achievement ;)
