Will all/some of the natural wonders be an option on generated maps? I hope so, that sounds really fun.

(not to mention the fun that will be had with incorporating these into the balance on Earth maps).

Mainly because their is no evidence nor is it likely Earth Map will make it into Civ5. Accept as maybe a scenario

I hope they have a more flexible earth map scenario available than in previous civs.

One where you can have random starting spots if you want, re-shuffled distribution of resources if you want, custom victory conditions and numbers of players if you want, etc...

I think it'd be cool to have the Natural Wonders have different names if they weren't on an Earth Map. For example, Mount Everest would be called the Chinese name for it if they controlled it or the Indian name if they controlled it. Or perhaps the right to name it would go to the Civ that first discovered it, choosing from a list of names appropriate to the Civ.

That would be neat.

Or just have the option to name it whatever the discovering player wants, with the preset name being Mt. Everest/Barrier Reef, etc. Like how city naming works, err used to work.

cater to the egomaniacs then?

Like someone said we've already seen one, and I'm 97% sure someone from the dev team confirmed that we'd see an Earth map included.

Outside of naming it upon discovery, those other examples would be too much coding for really no pay-off.

I don't think it would be that much work honestly. Adding a little flavor would be a good thing. They already have area specific city graphics and music so they seem big on the flavor aspect for ciV.

Certainly a heck of a lot less work then the animated leaders which apparently took 6 months to make anyway.

Not a big deal to me but it'd be cool if they did it.

There was a screen from one preview where you could clearly make out India and the horn of Africa on the map, so I think they will have one.

Ok yeah forgot about that, but thats a scenario, and so it has no relevance to normal generated map game play, which will for the sake of clarification, have natural wonders, I'm sure you won't find all of them on very small map's like Duel size, but on the biggest map sizes all natural wonders will surely be scattered across the landscape.

It's not that it's too much work per se, it's just that it's too much work compared to the pay-off which is close to nil.

The Earth Map community (people at civearth.com) will make a better Earth map than the one that is included in the game within weeks anyways.

what civ has ever shipped without an earth map?

All civ's have shipped with unit stacking, yet that will definitely not be in the game, so I fail to see your point.

Besides I already admitted that we actually have seen the Earth Map, but it will be a scenario, with all cities / city states / natural wonders in the place they exist in real life. The guy was asking about normal generated map's, and they will have all the natural wonders they can fit onto the game map, depending on which size you choose will depend on how many you get on the game, having all say (I think thier is around 10) 10 on a duel would be silly when it will barely fit the two main civ cities and I guess a city state or two.

What are these natural wonders of which you speak? I go away for a couple of weeks and I'm totaklly out of the loop.

Îf you have been away you should check out Arioch's Site with all the info available! There's a thread for discussing it also.
