Natural Wonders on non-Earth-type maps?

I don't understand why 12agnar0k says it wouldn't be "Likely." except as a scenario.

why the heck is that? What possible reason do you have to make that distinction that it's unlikely that it will be a generated map type?

Well the Earth map has all starting locations like in real life as a Scenario, I suppose if you wanted to play a game where all civ's are randomly placed on it, you could do that to, and that would be a normal game.
Originally I though the only "normal game map's" (excluding scenarios) would be Continents / Pangea / Archipelago only, as I thought this was confirmed to be the case, but greg just said their will be other map types you can choose in the advanced options, including Terra, so Earth may be in there too.

Mainly because their is no evidence nor is it likely Earth Map will make it into Civ5. Accept as maybe a scenario

Why would they NOT have an Earth map (except as a scenario) in Civ V when they know there are a lot of people who like playing on them? Besides, maps from Civ IV can be converted to Civ V maps, and there were a lot of Earth maps both from Firaxis themselves and from fans!

I don't think it would be that much work honestly. Adding a little flavor would be a good thing. They already have area specific city graphics and music so they seem big on the flavor aspect for ciV.

Certainly a heck of a lot less work then the animated leaders which apparently took 6 months to make anyway.

Not a big deal to me but it'd be cool if they did it.

You know, maybe the natural wonders will be tied to the area terrain!

Even the Giant Earth Map?

I really hope that is just a standard size map!!! If they don't include a huge map, I'll be fine as it can always be created! However, if THAT is the largest map size, I will NOT be happy! Especially with the changes in the gameplay, it would mean my fears would be realized with the OUPT issue.

That map looks pretty good to me, but I don't really go for ultra huge maps, so I appreciate how well it looks at such a scale.

When you take into account the OUPT mechanic, along with the increased range of units and the increased range of cities... that map is way too small!!! Personally, I prefer larger maps. The only problem with them is that the late game can become unplayable (at least in Civ IV). While the graphical improvements are nice, I would have preferred larger map sizes. Still, look at the Persian Gulf... waaaay to small and messed up. I am beginning to think that smaller tiles may be the direction the Civ series needs to go.

Well, I am not sure if the Map conversion will include the ability to convert MOD specific maps. Personally, I kind of doubt it! But, you never know...
