Naval units and zone of control

Am I the only one who is irritated by my land units dealing with zone of control / flanking issues from naval units?

ESPECIALLY melee naval units?

I can see ranged naval units being able to exert flanking bonuses - not so sure about zone of control.

But melee naval units should have no effect on land units. It's just silly.

I was thinking of it the other way around. Its silly (but effective) to use units to flank ships and exert zoc on them so they are stuck In a big naval battle you can surround opposing fleets this way and trap them. They then have to waste a shot on your land units and watch as your ships then protect the units and get a free attack on them in return

I don't think it should be changed. At war one of the first goals should be to destroy the enemy fleet. War should be more difficult without naval supremacy.

It's an enemy unit. Blast it.

On the flipside, you can exert your own ZOC thataway too.
