Here's some ideas for things that I hope we will get along with the navigable rivers, either at launch or eventually:
River shaping
- The ability to extend them via dredging, locks, canals, projects, dams, etc. (Unlocked by the appropriate techs, ofc)
- Perhaps even link them together, turn small rivers into navigable ones, or block them.
Scandinavian civ/s with specific units / abilities towards them.
(Sail a longboat through them to pillage some adjacent districts, Viking style)
Specific buildings / districts / abilities that interact with them:
- River forts with defenses, such as chains, to impede / block hostile boats.
- Taxation / tolling capability.
- Waterfront developments for commerce / recreation
- Ferry systems for transportation
- Extended Irrigation
- Dams and hydro-electricity benefits.
- Waterwheels / watermills
Beyond the already revealed adjacency / tile bonuses, and wonder interactions.
I also hope that that are easy enough to Mod with, since the devs have many features to contend with over time.
