This draft is going to be quit a doozie for the teams involved. How do you think the draft will turn out? The top two prospects are easily Derrick Rose and Michael Beasely. Most boards have Beasely going #1, but I think Rose has a legitiment shot. For the top five most likely teams to get the 1st pick:

1. Miami -- Both Beasely and Rose are good choices but I would think Miami would be more in need of a point guard. If they are drafting on pure talent, they might take Beasely, but if they draft more on need, Rose should be their man.

2. Seattle - Seattle needs a PG, its pretty simple. Watson is not a franchise PG, he's a off-the-bench role player. However, Durant and Beasely are good friends so Seattle might take Beasely over rose because of that and that they would make a good inside/outside combo.

3. Minnesota - This one is a lock for Beasely, the T-wolves would want him at PF and move AI Jeff to C. Foye will be their future PG

4. Memphis - Beasely easily wins out here, no need to draft Rose after drafting Conely

5. New York - If Isiah was here, they'd take Beasely because even though they desparately needs a PG, Isiah worships talent above all else. But since Isiah got fired, I think they are going to take Rose if they get it. I mean the knicks don't have anything that even resembles a decent point guard.

Most will say that Beasely has more talent than Rose because of his incredible freshmen season. After seeing Rose in the NCAA tournament, I'm not so sure. He almost looks like a bigger and stronger version of CP3. I'd probably take Rose if all else where equal.

Its hard to tell, since we don't know everybody who is going to enter the draft yet, or what the order is.

I'm with you though, I'd take Rose over Beasley. Great PG play is hard to find, and critical if you want to win titles. Beasley should be great, but there are lots of players like him.

Funny to think that OJ Mayo was all the hype this time last year and he's fallen quite a bit in the rankings.

OJ's character issues were no secret to anybody who paid attention to Ohio prep sports.

He's still going to be a good NBA player though...just as more of a scorer than a distributor. He reminds me a lot of Stephan Marbury

OJ Mayo is still projected as a top 5 pick on most boards, number 3 on NBADraft.net.

He's not going to fall out of the top 6, he's too talented to.

Rose average 4 assists a game on a high scoring team--he's not a PG, more a hybrid. He will play SG in the NBA.

Miami:
Wade-SG
Cook--SG ( last years #1 pick )
Davis--SF
Marion--PF
Haslem--PF

They need a pure PG or a C

Plus the NBA has a saying "You can't teach size", theres 1-2 quality big men a year but 10-12 G's & F's

Rose is developing into a really good pure PG. He's made alot of improvement from his high school days. In my eyes, he is a pure PG.

He was a better pure PG in high school than he was in college. Or, he dished the ball more. He's still the best player in the draft, I'd take him over Beasley with little hesitation.

What about Dr Love? And I believe the Carolina boys will declare or not this
week. Now Lawson is a pure PG.

They need both . looking at their cap #, the worst team in the NBA is 19 million over the cap-boy do they have some bad contracts.

13 lotto spots with auto contracts, everyone else has to make the team.

34 underclassmen declared
11 foreign players
not including some like Augustin, Chalmers or Carolina 3 who haven't decided

Who advises these guys, 2/3 are going to get screwed.

Dr. Love is getting some love now. I'm still not a NBA-prospect fan of him. He'll be a tough player, but not a good one. The Carolina players should be announcing that they're staying :p this week. I'd be surprised to see Ellington go. Hansbrough too. Lawson I can see going, but all 3's stock will be higher next year after a National Championship.

I don't see Love being too different from Hansbrough as a player and I don't see neither one doing too well in the NBA.

I wonder who will take a gamble on Hibbert in the first round.

Someone smart, because he's a quick learner and he's 7'2''. I hope he falls to the Wizards lap.

Hibbert is the most overrated player in college basketball...space filler, foul taker, Samuel Dalembert-lite.

So basically he'll put up 10 points 10 rebounds a night? As long as he does that he can be considered a solid pick. Heck, perfect for the Nets

Lawson (UNC) has supposidly declared for draft, but will not hire agent. :scan:

edit: same for Ellington
