Need few good ppl to start modding team

Hi everyone,

I would like to get few people on board to start our own modding team. We would develop different modifications for Civ IV including scripting, graphics and game design itself.

We would need:

2 Python programmers (one has to be exp'd)
2 Graphic designers (both 2d graphics and 3D modeling required)
1 QA person (testing new features and reporting errors before we release it to community) and some other "duties as assigned" :p

Being .NET programmer and project manager myself, I would lead this modding team and provide resources such as web-site/ hosting, different tools and just making sure everything goes as expected.

This (6) is a minimum number of people I would like on our team. Of course, I wouldn't mind getting some more people .Even if you're not programmer/designer you can still join this project and help with good jokes, if nothing. :crazyeye:

First step would be to register a domain, design a web-site with members-only area and move from there.

If everything goes ok we might consider doing some more serious professional projects in future.

I supose the first question is...

what are your ideas? I can't see many people joining, unless they have some clue of what you are going to do with yourself. As for graphic designers, you probably won't need them, especailly if your mod is based around earth history. It's it has been the usual way on these boards to have people making graphics in quite a freelance manner, and for modders to take what units they need for their mod, maybe with a few requests here and there.

Anyway, what are you planning on doing?
 
Interesting and very good question. I'll answer you after I explain myself better.

First idea was to do something organized. A lot of people would like to mod but can't/dontwantto/needsomehelp do it themselves. We would be organized and synchronized as to what needs to be done. now, you're asking me what are my specific ideas and I'll give you just few but community is here to give there input. More civilizations, units, advances, tweak different aspects of the game (research speed ...), add some new features, work on UI (user interface) and many more. Simply make the game richer.

To answer your question ...

I guess adding additional civs would be first task, we would need leaderheads, units and what-not. Everyone likes to play with his/her own nation. It is possible to include more than 18 civs, just have to write small standalone application to edit that xml file. Many many other possibilities as this is totally customizable game.

Planning next project woule be up to the team, just need few people that feel like they would prefer to do this in a group ;) rather than modding on their own.
There's more reasons but I don't have that much time right now.

I guess I'm just trying to do something organized and bigger but we'll see.
 
I'm not sure if I am what you are looking for, so I'll give you some of my qualifications.

-HTML(If you are one of thoughs who consider that a language)
-some python
-some javascript
-XML
-tiny amount of 3d modeling but some 2d

I guess thats it as far as programing/design goes. I wouldn't mind helping out as I see a potential in a group such as this.
 
You forgot 2 masters of history -- or 2 designers to come up with the ideas and break it down so that the mod team can put it into action.

That is the idea of the designer - programmer relationship for the most part.
 
I would like to do QA for you

I can also do XML and i and also pretty good with c++ so when the SDK comes out i be working on that too.
