I have all the minimum requirements fulfilled with the exception of RAM. I have 1.6 RAM, as opposed to then needed 2 GB. Can I still have the capacity to run CIV V? Forgive me if it is not meant to be in this section of the forum.

Probably not. You can always try the free demo. There is a free demo for each of the 3 versions: vanilla, G&K, and BNW. You can get them through steam, which is the only way you can play the game legally. Welcome to CFC.
