I am using ny old, backup netscpae 4.0 browser becasue my internet explorer doesn't launch, and I get many popups and spyware/virus'.
1. Is there a better browser than IE that I can download and
2. Can someone give me links to download spyware removing programs? I have Spy Sweeper, but all it does is remove the spies. Than they come back. I ran a virus scanner recently, and it said I had some virus', and steps to remove them. But when I find them, they are currently in use, and so I can't delete them.

Help Please!!!!

For browser I recommend Mozilla Firebird or Avant browser. Both rule but Avant is much more compatible with IE related sites and very fast. It's basically a freeware version of IE with a bunch of great improvements that the major goons at Microfuhrer won't implement. Use Panda Antivirus to remove any viruses after you've run ad-removal proggies and then find a good trojan remover just to be sure the commies ain't logging your passwords.

Blech.

There is Mozilla, Opera, the Avant browser, Netscape, and others, but honestly you should just delete everything and start from scratch so you wont run into more problems.

So you are recommending refortmatting my computer?
Yes. Back up your important documents, favorites, and whatnot - scan them for viruses to make sure they dont transfer over later on, and then wipe your entire hard drive, and reinstall everything. Obviously you want to make sure you have the CDs for all your software with you so that you wont lose any valuable programs and whatnot. Also, if your siblings or parents use the computer, check with them first so that you can back up their files that you might not know about.

If you're that infected, you might want to consider formatting and starting with a clean slate.

Get a good antivirus program such as Norton. Keep it's detection lists up to date and do regular scans.

Get Spybot Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/ ). Scan with it regularly.

Switch to another browser. Plenty of people like Mozilla, but I prefer Opera. (http://www.opera.com ) You can either use it free or pay $30 to get rid of the small banner in the corner.

If you don't have a firewall, get one, even if its just something like the zonealarm free version.

Have you noticed that opera is very incompatible with a huge bunch of sites? I got so annoyed with Opera since it would not let me log on to loads of IE centered sites. Avant has not denied me access to any site yet. Opera blows in comparison.

Go to the Opera forums and ask about your problems. Opera is a lot more strict than IE in HTML and other stuff so some pages don't load correctly. A lot of the time the problem is that the website uses code that only IE can use and no other browser uses.

Actually, no. I have Opera identifying as IE6, and I've found maybe 5 pages that look slightly funny, but are functional. I have only found 2 that don't work at all.

I had Opera masking as IE6 for the longest time. But I found alot of sites would just be blunt and say "dl IE or Netscape compatible browser and call back" and drop me at a blank page. Avant on the other hand is doing a bang up job of not letting me down. 100% IE compatible and packed with lots of useful features. No reason to use inferior stuff when better stuff is available.

A lot of sites send Opera a different page because they specifically sniff out what the REAL browser is and not just what Opera identifies itself as. I've never had many problems with loading Opera pages, but I guess if you are, Avant is better to use.

google up AdAware
