Hi,
I'm working on a new map script for FFH(heres the latest version), and I'm going to do some re-working of the placement of towers, barrows and unique improvements for the map. I would like each of the unique buildings to be in an appropriate, visually appealing area rather than just splattered randomly.(sometimes on the map edge, blegh)

That said, I would like to know some more lore regarding where these buildings would likely be found, and unfortunately the wiki has been knocked out of commission for some time. These are the buildings in question (from the Improvement xml file):

IMPROVEMENT_BROKEN_SEPULCHER
IMPROVEMENT_MIRROR_OF_HEAVEN
IMPROVEMENT_DRAGON_BONES
IMPROVEMENT_LETUM_FRIGUS
IMPROVEMENT_ODIOS_PRISON
IMPROVEMENT_POOL_OF_TEARS
IMPROVEMENT_PYRE_OF_THE_SERAPHIC
IMPROVEMENT_REMNANTS_OF_PATRIA
IMPROVEMENT_TOMB_OF_SUCELLUS
IMPROVEMENT_YGGDRASIL

I always imagined the dragon bones in the desert or tundra.

Mirror of heaven either in desert or Lush jungles

Letum Frigus in ice or tundra.

Tomb of succellus in Grasslands or forests

Yggdrasil in a forest.

the rest, i dont' know...

Broken Sepulcher- Barbartaros dwells in his ancient crypt, where he summons Earth elemental and wraiths to dominate the countryside. FOr the purpose of your mapscript, I would put him in his own valley.

Mirror of Heaven- For your mapscript, I would put it in a desert, and make it a smaller valley, so you can see the entire desert from on top of it.

Dragon Bones- I think these are the bones of an ancient dragon. This could be put anywhere but if possible, maybe it could increase the chances of Acheron spawning in the valley.

Letum Frigis- The Lectum Frigis was the palace of Mulcarn on earth. I imagine it would be in a tundra or ice area.

Odio's Prison- When the compact was signed Aeron's acrhangel, Odio rebelled, and continued to ravage creation. He attacked Kilmorph's land, and she turned him into stone. It would be most flavourful in a hilly region, as that is close to Kilmorph.

Pool of Tears- I know little about this, but it's waters heal the sick. I would imagine it in a forested area.

Pyre of the Seraphic- A fallen temple of Bhall. It would make sense to be in the orc's home, the jungle.

Remnants of Patria- The old capital of the human empire Kylorin controlled, Patria. It would be cool to place it through the same way as cities are placed, as it was a capital.

Tomb of Sucellus- Sucellus was defeated by Mulcarn who tore him into 7 or 9 pieces (I forget) and buried them all over Erebus. They were the few areas of warmth over Erebus. Logically they would be ina forest or a jungle.

Yggdrasil- I am unfarmilliar with it's Erebus history, but in Norse mythology Yggdrasil was the tree that linked the worlds. It would probably in a very large forest.

Thanks for the info. I'm putting together a tunable system for where these should go. Still some bugs but I think it will work.

I'm not sure. I kind of like the idea of Mulcarn's palace now being a perfectly warm, fertile area.

I don't think so. it's where Mulcarn was killed, and something as dramatci as the death of a god would affect the land it happens on. (anyway, the peices of succuleus keep parts of the earth fertile....)

Spoiler :
[TAB]Following visions and dreams, Auric stumbled across the frozen wastes, his companions left forgotten or dead behind him. He couldn't tell if he was going toward or away from the ivory dragon that haunted him, whose roar echoed in his head, whose wings stretched as far as the horizon. The dragon would kill him, he would be better off to lay down in the snow and die, but he kept going.[PARAGRAPH:1]Would the cold even kill him? He wore prisoner's rags and had been marching for days through a blizzard without any apparent harmful effect. Well, except for the madness. But whether the madness was caused by the cold, shielded him from the cold, or just made him think it shielded him from the cold didn't matter to him. He continued to walk.[PARAGRAPH:1]He would later call the area Letum Frigus, a collapsed mountain surrounded for miles by concentric rings of ice, like frozen waves heading away from a central point. The mountain was once filled with massive caverns, most now destroyed, but deep within the rubble some remained.[PARAGRAPH:1]Auric wandered through what was left of the caverns for days, slowly going deeper into the mountain, turned back over and over by blocked passages as he was pressed on by spirits that didn't see the labyrinth as it was, only as it had been. He knew he was being watched, men from past ages, living ghosts that remained at this sacred place even though their god was gone. The people he would later call Illians. Auric even saw the bodies of others that had walked here before him, killed by the Illians. But they would not attack him. When Auric found the heart of the mountain, he stood outside and looked through the broken archway that lead into it. Not even the Illians dared enter the chamber. When Auric reached out to detect anything divine or arcane in the chamber there was nothing. Echoes of past deeds, visions of a great sword with 21 glyphs on its blade, but nothing real. No danger, nothing worth making this trek, nothing worth even stepping over the threshold to enter the room. But he entered anyway.[PARAGRAPH:1]Three days later, Auric Ulvin came out of the chamber, he was no longer the disheveled boy of Auspire, the teenage prisoner of the Shadowed Vale, the son of a widowed farmer's wife. What he was is now is not clear to anyone, and Auric never spoke of what occurred in the chamber, but he commanded the obedience of the Illians when he came out.[PARAGRAPH:1]"Once you had been the greatest of scholars and priests, tributes were paid to you by all nations. You think those days are past, you dream of the return of your lord and I tell you, he will not come. I am your lord now, forget what you have lost, and think only on what can be gained; follow me and I will return your glory. This world will be yours
again."[PARARAPH:1]They heard Auric's call, and they followed him.

The Letum Frigus is clearly still in a frozen wasteland when Auric Ulvin finds it, long after Mulcarn was killed.

It might be interesting if Letum Frigus - while itself being sorrounded by frozen terrain in adjecant plots - could be found at a location where Snow and Tundra would seem completely out of place (thus creating an anti-oasis of cold).

If your talking civilisations...
Letum Frigus: Was near the Illians in Age of Ice
Odio's Prision: Lands of Kilmorph, so either Khazad or Luchuirp are likely candidates.
Pool of Tears: It says somewhere that the Elohim control this place
Pyre of the Seraphic: Clan graffiti covers this place, so either in or near Clan of Embers territory
Tomb of Sucellus: Was buildable by the Amurites in Age of Ice, so should be in their lands.

The others as far as I know have no specific location.
