I was watching this video, and it occurred to me what our duty is now: Never lose frame.

Are you in favor of killing people to give the wealthy more money, yes or no?

    Yes or no.

If they try to cast the argument in different terms, restate: "Are you in favor of killing people to give the wealthy more money, yes or no?"

Don't allow bullfeathers. Don't allow them to change the frame, always bring the focus right about around to the fact that, fundamentally, this is about rich people getting more trophy wives and fancy cars while the poor and sick die. Period. That's it. That's the only frame, that's the ONLY QUESTION.

If we refuse to leave this frame for long enough, we win.

While the idea seems noble, it also flies in the face of grim reality. Yes, the congressman is in favor of more wealth accumulating to the few even as it leads to needless deaths among the many. Keeping the question framed is fine, but we all actually know the answer. And the reason the congressman feels that way is because he receives the rewards of wealth and authority from those he favors.

My congressman's re-election campaign was funded almost completely by the RNC (and, admittedly, his opponent's campaign was funded almost completely by the DNC) so upon his return to Washington the only thing to be expected of him was exactly what he did. He has voted with the Republican leadership on every item brought to a vote, just like he did in his previous term.

What's going on in this thread? Random comments, no explanation what the video is about. I'm not watching 16 minutes of some Jimmy whatever show to understand what we're supposed to be discussing.

I mean yeah, obviously don't kill people for money, that's immoral

It is amazing USA is still discussing about the morality of public healthcare when in the rest of the developed world the question has been settled a long time ago. Some people there is stuck in the 19th century it seems. If anything the debate should be about to what point is a public health care system sustainable in the long run.

The U.S. is a bit unique. They're a part of the west but in some ways they are still in a totally different place than the rest of the west, even compared to say Canada. They still have the death penalty for instance, something most (all?) other western nations are 100% against.

    +1 on the "TL : DR please!"-front.
I'll most certainly not watch a 16 minute video by the Llama man.

It's about a guy being human about the Affordable Care Act bill in front of a senator that voted to have it repealed.

I see a civil war on the horizon for the United States unless things get significantly better for the average Joe, who can already take a lot of punishment as it is.
