New and Changed Unit Stats

Looking at the new SAM infantry and the Mobile SAM, appearantly SAM infantry is better shooting helicopters than the Mobile SAM (at least barely).

SAM infantry: 18 str + 75% vs helicopter = 31.5 (no promotion or defense bonus)

Mobile SAM: 22 str + 50% vs helicopter = 31 (lol, no promotion or defense bonus)

Also, the Mobile SAM looks like it may be a siege weapon, therefore it doesnt get def bonus, so the SAM infantry are even better at defending, and maginally better at attacking gunships. However, gunship are readily get pinch (after combat 1) then charge (after combat 2 and can gunships get charge promotion?)

The Mobile Sam is a Gunpowder Unit (see screenshot):

Mobile SAM:

22 Strengths, 2 Movement, 1 Range
* Can Intercept Aircrafts (50% Chance)
* +50% vs. Helicopter Units

(can receive Range Promotion)

I think they need to introduce a new class or change an existing class to collateral damage, remove it from seige, and slightly un-nerf seige (in city bombard %, hopefully).

Is your maths correct? :badcomp:

50% of 22 is 11, so

Mobile SAM: 22 str + 50% vs helicopter = 33

oops, your are correct. I probably was sleeping or something :p

Further more, the mobile SAM has an extra move thus can keep up with an advancing blitzforce or retreat after attacking.

I'm confused over the anti-tank gun and the anti-tank infantry.

Is one more modern than the other?

And finally we have "Giant Death Robots" in the official release of BtS I demand "Giant A$$ Saw Things"!
We need them!

Give it to me :D

We don't know what the anti-tank gun is yet although I'd expect it to be a special seige unit (like the Machine Gun is) and so have a different promotion path and be immune to collateral damage. It might not be able to attack but have good defensive bonusses against tanks. That will make it a very strong defensive weapon for cities and stacks against tank attack. Tanks with city raider are much too effective in historical terms, since tanks are generally recognised as being at their weakest in urban environments, but that is just a game mechanic.

WTH? You know what, I second this request just because of how crazy it is. :crazyeye:

Hehe. After some internet research I found the source of this pic :)
You know, this Schaufelradbagger (Bucket-wheel excavator) eats Bulldozers! :lol:

Spoiler :

Hmmm.... What's wrong with this picture?

There's a Cat D8 up there! :D

BAD Bucket Wheel! BAD! :lol:

In the real world, yes. An anti-tank gun is any piece of artillery used specifically, and sometimes designed specifically, to kill tanks. Anti-tank infantry really got started with the early Soviet wire-guided two-man missles, such as the Sagger

Where is the source of this info?
# Anti-Tank Gun: Is an inexpensive early counter to Tanks. You are no longer helpless if your enemy is first to Industrialism and has access to Oil.
# Anti-Tank Infantry: They start with the Ambush promotion and have a 100% bonus against armored units.

I thought the Anti-Tank Gun and the Anti-Tank Infantry are the same.

And if you look at the stats of the Anti-Tank Unit:

14 Strengths, 1 Movement
* +100% vs. Armored Units
* Starts with Ambush

It is an inexpensive early counter to Tanks AND it starts with the Ambush promotion and has a 100% bonus against armored units.

ok rumor has it that Greek UU is getting changed

I WANT PICTURE
thanks for the one u gave me thou

if siege weapons cant kill units, but can upgrade. Does this mean you can keep hammering a city every turn, gaining exp and great warlords?

If this is the case, catapults might have become even better than they were, since they do kill units on defense. Just throw on barrage and keep raining down on them every turn.

Imagine a specialist economy running on infinite warlords from catapults with great wall :-)

This can't be true, what am I missing?

Yeesh. Looks like there is plenty of incentive to finish off everyone before the modern age. Modern warfare in CIV is far too hectic as it is. With Better AI, it will probably be a nightmare.

You're welcome
I'm also very interested in this change!

The funny thing is that as I was a child and I saw such a machine on a stamp I really thought it was a Giant Ass Saw Thing :) And I also thought “WTH, WHY??” :lol:

edit:
and it still looks like a Doomsday Machine!

On the giant saw thing..

..I saw a special on that machine on the History Channel. The saw is actually made of buckets. This machine is used to dig out gigantic quarries (or something to that effect.)

My point for posting though:

I was wondering if anyone knows any more information about the privateer unit. I am looking forward to it, and am hoping that its not possible to tell the difference between the AI privateers (like you could in Civ3 Conquests.)

Thanks.

I imagine that siege aren't allowed to attack a unit that is below their max damage (like a Bomber can't bomb when all units are below the max damage)
