Introducing a new Exploration Age civ, Inca!

Tawantinsuyu, "the empire in four parts," was ruled by the Inca, and extended across the Andes mountains, building roads and waystations, terraced fields and silver mines – an empire in the sky. Under the Inca was a diverse collection of subjects, languages, and cultures, but no writing or coinage. Yet the empire came to a crashing end upon the arrival of the Spanish, and smallpox.

Inca was one of my favourites in previous games. lets hope they are just as fun in 7, as long as you spawn near mountains.

So stoked to see Machu Pichu has to be built on a mountain again, I admit, Petra had me worried.

I get the impression Inca will be best suited for Scientific Legacy Victories, ironically. Despite their Expansionist/Economic attribute focus

So, Pachacuti + Inca = food, food & food (TM). I guess I would rather choose another leader for them in that case.

Hooray for getting rid of some Spanish spelling and using something similar to Quechua instead (Pachacuti instead Pachacutec and Machu Pikchu instead of Machu Picchu). Actual Quechua would have been even better though ;)

I think food+population play will definitely need more happiness, so Pachacuti's specialist happiness cost bonus will be helpful.

So, the Terrace Farm is a building and not an improvement? That's weird

Machu Pikchu

It’s actually Machu Pikachu. It provides lighning bolt attacks to all your units.

The “mountain tiles can be worked” brings in some questions and ideas:
- “working” a tile now means placing a rural district: is it any of the ones we know (farm/camp/mine), or does it mean inca get “double” unique infraestructure? (I get probably will be mine)
- gameplay wise, this means inca can count on easy access to “other side of the mountain” resouces that for other civs will be difficult to reach.

Does this mean we get the Inca theme soon on Youtube? Hopefully.

I really liked that they brought back the bonus for working mountain tiles; it was a very fun bonus in Civ6 and made the Incas quite unique.

Overall, I enjoyed it a lot. It will be very fun when there's a pre-Incan Andean civilization to play for a more immersive experience.

Is it really building an not improvement? I believe so far most unique buildings come in pairs and together with their unique district.

I would rather choose another leader for them in that case.
Since it's exploration age, it's more like you choose civ for leader, not the other way around. If you get a lot of mountains. And since Pachacuti has mountain bias, he's likely to be in situation where Inca fits best.

People are going to really hate the terrain generation RNG for this one. Incoming ten different "I spawn near 20 Mountain tiles with 0 Rough tiles next to them" posts on Reddit.

Jeez this is like the “greatest hits” of Inca returning
-Pachacuti from every Civ game since III (except 4)
- the latest Inca unique unit from VI
- the beloved Terrace farm and mountains bonuses
- the oldest Inca unique unit returns from Civ III!

I am not happy at all that we apparently get absurd Maya to Inca transition, having obvious Maya -> Aztec pathway (or hell the only opportunity in civ series to do Olmecs justice) with Inca being worthy the entire separate evolutionary line and ancient Andean predecessor...
Aztecs are really likely to come in Right to Rule DLC pack.

"Working" the mountain tiles may just mean that the mountain yields are included in the overall city yield?

Indeed, Mesoamerica and the Andes should each have their own historical paths. It seems they decided to treat Mesoamerica and South America as one big historical bloc: Latin America - however nonsensical that may be.

The Incas not having a predecessor is quite strange; I hope this gets addressed soon.
