So there I was....
Regent, large map, small continents, 6 other civs. And 5 of us were on one small continent. Go figure. Anyways, I rapidly, (as rapidly as despot will allow), research Iron Working, while fending off the attentions of the Russians, Chinese, Egyptians, and Indians. I get Iron Working, and much to my dismay, I can't build Immortals! My plans in a shambles, and getting more po'd by the minute, I make do with the second best I have available, swordsman. (No, I did'nt stop to think why the AI was allowing me swordsmen, but not Immortals). Swordsmen, in numbers are a pretty awesome force anyway, and I quickly, (again, as quickly as despot will allow), reduced to my foes to manageable numbers, while expanding my empire. Then, out of the blue, there was an Immortal. Not mine though. It seems that I forgot I was playing Babs, not Persians. The obvious conclusion here is that we need a new civ, in the form of the Perbylonians. Just like Babs, but with Immortals, for idiots like me.
I decided to pursue this game anyway, as it was fun watching the other civs bleat like frightened sheep whenever my armies of swordsmen were at their gates. And now, the Russians are no more, The Chinese are down to one city, (having graciously deeded me their second-to-the-last surviving city, and all their tech advances in a peace treaty....a treaty I intend to abide by for another turn or two). The Indians are gone, and Cleo is looking a little nervous lately, (I'm saving her for dessert....but first have to deal with those pesky Persians).
