Hey guys (and gals?) !

For anyone who wants to join a Civ4 multiplayer game - there is a new game starting at Apolyton.com. It is so-called Pitboss game type, where you join a server to play your turn normally once every 24 hours and games normally span over a year to complete. This is good way of playing civ for people who are busy IRL and cannot devote a lot of time in one sit to play whole game and also allows to plan and think and to conduct diplomacy with the other players, which can turn in important and exciting part of the game.

If you are interested, here is a link to the game organization thread. It is in Spanish, as mainly the players are spanish speakers, but everyone speaks English too, as we are becoming more international society.

If you need more info, let me know and I will provide with any help to join the game.

Cheers,

What does the mod you use do exactly? I had a hard time finding out.

The mod's main function is to regulate war-time turn splits and eliminate the possibility of double-moving during war. If anyone tries to enter the game when it is not his part of the timer (for example he must play second, and his adversary is not played yet his turn) the mod simply disconnects you if you try to enter the game. Also, the mod extends the time and gives additional full timer to every participant in war, so everyone can play his turn conveniently. Additional benefits are included BUG mod which gives enhanced information in-game. Also there are small changes and fixes in the gameplay. For example nukes are more expensive, harbor gives 2 points experience and 25% faster ship build, removed bug when pitboss crashes when someone launches spaceship, etc.
There is neat turn tracker site linked with the mod too. It gives information about events in the game, so you can see them before actually entering the game - like who proposes you what deal, sending diplomatic messages to the other players who you'e already met, keeping your anonimousity - games are played with anonimous names to protect perceived strong players from being dogpiled early in the game for just being seen from the others as dangerous, etc.

We used the same mod with great success in the Inter-Site Democracy Game 2012, hosted here at CFC, where with high competitiveness level it was very important to prevent any potential threat of double-moving or logging in the wrong part of the timer.
