I've been remiss in posting updates, so there's a lot of stuff this time around. It's a veritable embarrassment of riches. Highlights this time include Hikaro Takayama's new units and LHs for Final Fantasy - some are brand new and some are improved versions of older files. All are great. And we also have a lot of interesting new mods and scenarios. Check out the new version of Rocoteh's classic WWII Global, JuuL's imaginative Gesta Danorum, and Yorgos' update of the Civ II-themed favourite Midgard. They're all great and will eat up immense amounts of time.

UNITS

IMPROVEMENTS AND WONDERS

TECH ICONS

 • Hordes of Darkness by LizardmenRule! Apparently an image of LMR after finishing his exams...
 • Necromancy by Varlin Saliptor.
 • Cartography by Varlin Saliptor. Two nice images here - one is scary and the other isn't.
OTHER GRAPHICS

 • C3C Title Screens by J-boy. Four stylish title screens, featuring Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Atlas, and Charlemagne.
 • 377 Resources by Amesjustin. This has got everything from dinosaur skulls to dragonflies, so it's bound to have whatever resources you need...
MODS AND SCENARIOS

 • Community Enhancement Pack by J-boy. A good idea - a collection of all kinds of art and tweaks for Civ III, in one file.
 • WW2 Global 2.3 by Rocoteh. A new version of one of the monsters of CFC. The thread has well over 6,000 posts. This is a popular one and it's back!
 • Gesta Danorum - The Deeds of the Danes by JuuL. Tired of dominating the world? Dominate Denmark instead. This well-crafted mod takes us from antiquity to modernity with all kinds of custom techs, units, Wonders, and the rest.
 • Midgard Fantasy Mod 1.1 by Yorgos. A new version of a classic setting with many imaginative touches setting it apart from other fantasy scenarios.
 • Test IV Time by Stargate. This takes Civ III in a Civ IV-inspired direction, with new religions, civics-style governments, and so on.
 • Battlefield New York (Beta) by Weasel Op. A beta release of the eagerly-anticipated Zombie-Island-influenced street battle scenario.
 • The Battle of Antarctica (Beta) by SG-17. This is the first in a planned series of Stargate scenarios. But I don't know anything about Stargate so I can't comment further!
MAPS

 • Hawaii by Amesjustin. Probably a good one to play as Byzantium on...
 • Eurasia by Yoda Power. A nice big one with lots of detail.
 • Newfoundland by SuperBeaverInc. This could be interesting as a sort of small Pangea-style map.

Has anyone come up with a way to translate a Civ IV building/graphic/unit to Civ III? Or is that not possible?

For buildings, I suppose you would simply take a screenshot of the Civ IV graphic, from an appropriate camera angle, and then convert it the same way you'd convert any other building image - paste it onto the right grass background, add a shadow, and sort out the palette. I can't imagine any way to convert a unit, because Civ IV units are just 3D models and Civ III units are animations. You'd need to find some way to import the Civ IV model into an animation program and render your own animations. But the Civ IV models are lower quality than those normally used for Civ III units, since the latter are pre-rendered, so there wouldn't be a whole lot of point.

Thanks as I am running my Civ III on an older machine without an upgrade planned in the future so I don't see myself going to CIV IV soon. I enjoy the game too much right now and want to continue in III.
I like production and am frustrated at the 255 max embedded in the Civ III, but understand coding limits. So I am trying to get a good feel for making it realistic to me. I see all of the new items in the Civ IV and wonder if I can find a spot in my biq for that. What to take out, etc.

I am not an artist at all. I don't have the patience for bit-mapping or coloring or figuring out how to do this. I would love to learn, but work and family means this is a far down wish.

Thanks for your work as I can adapt things easily and live without a picture here or there as long as the production/outcome is what I am looking for.
