After months of seeing screenshots and watching the gameplay videos I guess we can conclude that this time civilizations uniqueness are almost perfect (must play to confirm right), not only technically with the beautiful 3D and sound/music as with the game mechanics, each one having its unique advantages, units and leader personalities.
All this is excellent news, right?! To play, yes, heaven!
But, despite civfanatics being one of the best (if not the one) mod communities I've seen I'm worried about how much work it'll be needed to create a decent civilization mod. I say that looking at Civ IV's new civs mods, they added so much in the game, I couldn't play without them anymore .
I have myself joined some mod teams in the past (most minors for small stuff) including for Medieval 2 TW and even Civ3 - at that time they were doing Brazil civ mod - and know that's no easy task completing one.
I wonder if civfanatics mod masters are already with an eye (or two ) on these aspects? Firaxis is all proud saying the modability will be outstanding so I'm really hopeful they'll bring us some neat tools, but yet, there will be a lot more of work than with Civ IV, won't be?
P.S. part
I'm not writing here just to spread pessimism despite not being much active on civfanatics ever (I never understood why really) I'm eager to return on game modding, and which better game to do it if not Civ 5? I did/do some 3D modelling, texturing and animation in the past plus I'm a programmer and could do some Python with great pleasure, so if anyone needs some help to make things done I'm very forward to do it!
