New colony trouble

I'm playing Earth 18 civs, and Spain has been destroyed. When it was destroyed, it was at war with half the world. I keep trying to create a new colony, and the game keeps assigning it as Spain, and everyone immediately declares war on me. Is there any way to pick what civ your colony will be, or any other way to stop this from happening?

sorry, but that's a bug. i don't think you can do anything about that i'm afraid.

Try Bhruics Unofficoal Patch - it should fix it. You can install it and use your old savegame.

Just to let you know, if you already have 18 civs playing, you wouldn't be able to start a colony. If you're using a mod to allow you more than 18 civs I would try using some of the advice above, or try saving before you make the colony and then reload until you have something other than Spain.
