I do not know what the problem is, but the new freebie simply does not work for me at all. I have tried to run it several times now but each time it starts to read the intro dialogue & immediately crashes with a "civilizationv.exe" module faulting, and asking me to send this info to Microsoft.
I have even uninstalled the whole caboodle, wiped registry clean & reinstalled from the original DVD release (that took many hours too). Tried again this morning, same problem again. This will do it every time here:
Load game, go to Scenarios, pick "Conquest of the New World Deluxe".
Set to Warlord, Pick Francis 1 and start - as soon as the dialogue gets down a couple of sentences, CivV crashes the OS.
Incidentally, because this is a re-install, I checked the mods and see there are no Mods installed - is this perhaps the problem? The email I got told me that I did not need to do anything - the expansion would just automatically set up - but if I need a specific mod pack, if there are none installed then that may explain things.
