Oh. Someone else did it! Great then :)

First, let me point that it would be better to do diplomacy by leader. This way, we'll maximize flavour, instead of having the same texts for each leader of a same civ.

Ah, ninja'd again. I'll let you flesh out the leaders list, then. Don't forgot any minor ones! :p

In the mean time, here's a list of the texts we need:

Note
It is possible to create different variations on one text entry, depending on the two following variables:
- Attitude: Furious, Annoyed, Cautious, Pleased and Friendly
- Relative power: Weaker, Equal, Stronger

This means that, like AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_REJECT that has two entries, 1 for Furious (encompassing Annoyed) and 1 for Friendly (encompassing Cautious and Pleased), you could have AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_PEACE to vary if the human player is Stronger or Weaker. Of course, theoretically, you could have all those variations... resulting on 15(!!) different texts for the same entry, counting some 100+ entries, it would make a total of ~1500+ entries, which is, methinks, quite impossible to do. Well, it could be done. It would just be a pain.

Suggestions on variations
I think that the way it's now is near perfect. We don't need a variation for each relation status. At most, creating a Cautious sentence would be good, because I don't think the Pleased&Friendly sentence should be used if the relation is Cautious.

Variations upon Relative power could be interesting although they shouldn't be used with variations upon Attitude. You can do it and I can easily add it. It's just a recommendation for your sake, folks.

By the way, I think some entires are more inclined toward Attitude variation and others towards Relative power variations... not sure which though.

Where to find all this?

I used the Orbis editor (open-able with Excel 2003) to get the diplocomment entries. They should be found in Orbis/Assets/XML/Gameinfo/CIV4DiplomacyInfos.xml. However, the actual texts are found in Orbis/Assets/XML/Text/CIV4GameText_FFH2.xml and CIV4GameText_Orbi.xml in the same directory for the FFH-only texts. However, the generic ones (mostly the random ones I'm babbling about above) are found in the XML/Text/ folders of Vanilla Civ4, Warlords and BTS. You would need all three (five when counting FFH and Orbis) files to have all texts.

First, let me point that it would be better to do diplomacy by leader. This way, we'll maximize flavour, instead of having the same texts for each leader of a same civ.
Exactly. I think Alexis would speak different than Flauros. Also, Falamar, Hannah and Laggs use the same text now... :crazyeye:

And that's all for now. There's... what... 95 more types of text? I can't do all that in a row :crazyeye:
That is why I was afraid to start. Good someone else does it :D

Yeah, that's nuts. Maybe they're robots from the future with only one hard drive for each..?

That is why I was afraid to start. Good someone else does it :D
Yeah, I should have looked at the number... 117 entries is huge! It will be awful to work all that but when we will be done, it will be as great as a world wonder! The Great Slab of Text!

Personally, I think I'll do Volanna... I like her :D
(I mean, I'll do her text, not just her... well, now that I mention it...)

OMG, this is a loooong list, this will take some time :(

OMG, this is a loooong list, this will take some time :(
Yes, certainly. This is why we will need more than a couple of helpers, methinks. I will join in the effort, trying to do my best even though English is not my main language. I feel more comfortable for writing dialogue than pedia entries, so that's ok...

You know, Ahwaric's first language is not English, my first language is not English, and Opera's first language is not English, any english here?

Yep, I'm English, but French, German and Spanish are fairly lousy.

This looks remarkably like a spreadsheet. You need to cross off all the entries already provided by the FfH / FF team, and then supply a list of what's still required.

Hello everybody! Long time lurker, first time posting. I enjoy Orbis modmod very much and I decided to show my appreciation, by helping with it. I wrote some diplo texts for Laggs Nyr and Weevil, Pickle and Hyde. I couldn't find where all the diplo texts are located, so I only wrote the ones Opera posted. Oh, and I'm not a native English speaker, so some typos and grammar mistakes are possible.

For Laggs Nyr I went for a simplified pirate-talk, with several quotes Long John Silver from different movies.

For Weevil, Pickle and Hyde I had the image of them doing all the business together, speaking in short sentences and everyone saying something. So all the replies are three sentences long, with each of them saying something.

#We don't need it. We don't want it. Silly offer.

If someone gives me the full list of diplomatic dialogue, I can write full texts for both of those.

EDIT: Thank you for the compliment. I left the TRADE line untouched, since well.. I'm not touching it if I don't know what it's for :D It's getting late in this part of the world, I'll write up some more stuff in the morning

That's awesome. Really, I love it :D

Although you might want to check your last entries for both, seems like you missed a line or something. You may also didn't write anything for the _TRADE line, since I didn't post any good guideline for it...

Anyway, very good. I will post more entries later today (may be some time after this post).

Bearing in mind what was written about Faeryl...

AI_DIPLOCOMMENT_CURRENT_DEALS
#4 random. Used when you ask "What are our current deals?".

"These are our current treaties. Are you fully abreast of the situation now?"
"Here is the naked truth of the matter."
"Please find our arrangements fully exposed."
"I think you'll find our affairs have always produced fine, upstanding results."

Here's a couple of generic ones.
"I trust you are happy with these arrangements. If not, we can always change them."
"These are the terms we have agreed. We are perfectly satisfied with them... for the moment."

 Great! However, you can't have random sentences by leaders. Random sentences are used by all leaders. They're a way to bypass leader requirement.

@ Jabie

I like it... I am not sure if I should add it, but I will almost certainly do ;)

@Jake the Peg
Thanks for delurking to share! These are really great, will be in 0.23 (hopefully before sunday...)

You know, Ahwaric's first language is not English, my first language is not English, and Opera's first language is not English, any english here?

Gosh, why do I have a feeling that everyone on this list looked in my direction, especially since I have a degree in English as well as training in how to write properly and give briefings?

Good thing for all of you my external drive failed on my hard drive so I actually can't play Civ anymore so know have lots of time to work on this. :coffee:

Yeah, I was writing that and the first person I thought up was Arkham :p...

Anyways, all leaders added except for minor leaders and Clans of Ember. Have fun
