New! Elite Quattromasters Challenge

Thanks, Denniz!

So do I need two on BTS only or should I knock out a couple on Vanilla and Warlord too? I got a couple spare hours at work tonight.

You know, you're right. We didn't think about Vanilla and Warlords. You could probably get out of the Warlords by uninstalling it. But you definately need Vanilla.

BTW, did we mention that they each needs to be played in a single session? :mischief:

Should I just get the first one and save it, then choose 'just one more turn' and play another 1500 turns?

On the plus side...Vanila is only 1200 turns.

You forgot the best part: Must be Marathon speed too. :D

Sun Tzu Wu

You're mistaken. It actually has to be on quick ;).

Edit:

Is there any other way to play and submit a HoF game?! You wouldn't think so based off of my submissions .

However, I do not volunteer. Esp not for deity/quick/huge/time from ancient. If someone pulls that nonsense off, I'll be impressed. It'd be damned hard to just reach everyone before somebody wins culture.

Being a late comer to this game, it was very interesting to go back in time on this thread and read peoples initial reactions to the EQM. Hopefully most have warmed up to it since then.

I didn't read all the posts, so sorry if this is a repeat, but it would be wonderfully convenient if the Status pages indicated which scores were new. I understand it may be difficult if that involves an expensive database operation, but if that's the case, then maybe having a "Show Me Which Games are New" button would allow the page to load quickly by default but give the option to compute the extra information only when needed.

Well, I'm starting the long, painful... er, I mean fun... process of becoming a Deity EQM. Now back to my current loss in progress. :)

If you click on "Statistics" and then select the "Updates" tab. This will display all of the games that were published in the last update. I'm not sure if this is what you had in mind, but it does show all of the "new" games.

I'm not sure why it says "Updates" when it only displays the last update. Maybe the HOF Staff could add a pull down menu that allows you to select the update period that you want to view...when they have some extra time that is.

Thanks, Mesix. I knew I could see the new games in the Updates tab, but from that tab, I can't easily tell if any of those games were among my personal best with respect to leader, map, victory condition, etc. I know I can also go to each event's tab and see which items I've improved on, but that only tells me that at least one of the leader scores improved, for example. It may be that only one game improved the score, or it could be ten. And without clicking on all the leader games (60+ plus entries) on the status page, there's no way to know for sure.

So my suggestion is to make one stop shopping and just highlight each game on the status page that was from the most recent HOF update.

I would like to say, though, that I really dig what the HOF staff has done with QM, EQM, and Gauntlets. Please consider this a request for more icing on an already delicious cake. (I'm a software engineer that has to take suggestions on UI, so I know to be greatful for what I get!)

If you click tabs in your QM/EQM HOF status page for each event (i.e. League of Nations) then a table will come up with each players' games for that event. If there is a new game from the last update it is highlighted green. If you click the subscript number (it will be a 1 or a 2) next to a score it will pull up the description of the game (or games) that make up the score.

As an example...

Click on the EQM menu
Select Deity level from the drop down menu
Select the Machiavelli tab
Under my name, the Time victory will be highlighted green until June 10
Notice that the other VC are not green...that is because I did not have any games that improved those events this past update.
My score is currently 30.0 and was from the new submission
Click on the small number 1 after the 30.0 for my Time Victory
A description of my game should come up (submission #16615)

You can even add another game (like the first place game with similar settings) to compare. In the above example, Five Aces has the number 1 entry (submission #11912) for a Tiny, Deity, Time VC, on Marathon speed. You can select his game in a drop down menu at the top of the screen and compare his much better game to my cheasy Time victory win.

I didn't know that trick about the subscript 1's/2's. After following your example, I realize that my suggestion only removes the need to click through the 6 tabs. Having the green highlights on the status tab would duplicate the information in each of the other tabs, but it would be in a nice summary page format. Definitely reduces the suggestion to a modestly handy one.

Congratulations on your Time victory. I'm not looking forward to tackling one just yet on deity :)

Yes, 6y old necro, but it's the right thread:

I just noticed, that the several EQM-disciplines are weighted "unlogically" for me. Every discipline has about the same %age of weight, but League of Nations i. e. are 30+ games *2 while the Gauntlets are only 2 games (*2) . Do I understand this right, that scoring a better Gauntlet-result therefore is extremely valuable, while a LoN-game is practically worth nothing? I thought about improving my score to make sure I get on the 2nd place with the next update, but it seems I've made a completely wrong choice with choosing a 2nd game with Rome, I should have probably played an advanced era start, as that (if I understand this right) would have given me a way higher increase in score. :(

Your best bet is to play Industrial, Renaissance and Future Time games on Great Plains, Highlands or Med Small, with Brennus, Mansa, and Kahn to increase your score.

It is my opinion, but the Rock of Ages is totally useless, but a great way to increase your score. My scores reflect how little I value Rock of Ages/Time games.

So I'm right. This is somehow odd, always the time-games that would be good. Imo. the other games should be valued greater, time isn't even a "normal" victory condition for most players.

I played that round with Rome mostly because it was fun, but I thought I could improve my EQM-scores otw. , like I also hope to increase my Darius-score with the current Gauntlet. Well, doesn't matter really, catching Misotu should be possible with my last two games and catching WastinTime is probably impossible by normal means, because he just plays CIV for too long already.
