With France falling to 27th :cringe:

So do people feel this is a fair reflection of the teams quality?

Well, look at the teams ranked 6-9 and you know the answer.

We were second place before the WC? Didn't expect that.

I feel it's a pretty fair reflection for the first 5, but I do have to say that those could be in almost any order for it to be a fair reflection, because I feel the teams have very similar levels of quality.

So...don't most fans consider the FIFA rankings worthless?

Canada 88th. Probably about right.

WALES #84 :goodjob:

lol, it's actually higher than the last time it checked, when it was somewhere in the 50s.

What are England, Egypt, Greece, and Norway doing in the top 20?
They're not really weaker zhan Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia or Chile, are they?

oh, and due the the loss against england we seem to have dropped out of the top 20 again :ack:

Why wouldn't England be there ? One of the best qualifying records for the World Cup, reached the last 16 in the WC, and have won three out of three since. Their only meaningful defeat in the last couple of years is to the 3rd ranked team.

They may have been dreadful to watch in the 4 games of the WC, but, even as a Scot, I can't see any realistic view of World football putting them outside the top ten.

Overall, only Egypt looks well out of place to me, though I would say that they seem to have over-stated Norway's achievement in winning 1-0 at home to Portugal.

But why would England actually overtake Uruguay then? The Uruguaians reached the semifinals in the WC.
btw Egypt have been African champions for three times in a row, I think. The problem with them is that they never qualify for the World Cup.

After the World Cup, Uruguay moved up from 16th to 6th. England actually moved up one place after the tournament, from 8th to 7th, benefitting from the lousy tournament that Portugal had.

This latest changes, with England edging above Uruguay, are based on games since the World Cup. All that Uruguay have done since is win away to Angola, while England have beaten Hungary, Bulgaria and Switzerland (away).

I still don't understand how a load of crappy European teams get high rankings that they wouldn't get if they played the WC qualifyers in other continental leagues…

You have got to be kidding... :)
