New here, hi, some questions...

Ramble on Jesse, and welcome to the forums.

I'll second this statement. Since switching to the Mac version of the game, and spending time in this forum, I've got to say that the Mac crowd has it all going on. In general, I find the population intelligent, articulate, and best of all, well informed. The plethora of tips evident in this thread alone, I think, goes a long way to illustrate my point.

And then there's Brad O. This forum rocks, and jesse, as I can judge by your post, you'll be a welcome addition here.

Ok, now after all that butt smooching, I'm hoping the lot of you will be buttered up sufficiently to answer this most ******** of noob questions: in the middle of a game, is there a way to switch back to my desktop (in case the boss walks in, if you must know)?

I normaly use Command-H to go to window mode and then alt-click on another app to hide the resulting window

I use command-p, which pauses the game and sends you to the desktop... with a big Civ display on the center of your screen. Have an open file handy with which to cover it!

I didn't know Civ3 could be reduced to a window. I'll have to try it.

I thought shift-command-p to go to desktop. Command-p is for auto-cleaning up polution order. Am I wrong?

But my Mac always crash when I hit "resume" button.

Thanks for the info. Cmd - P worked like advertised, taking me back to my desktop. I tried Cmd - H, as a window format would be even better, but nothing happened. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks.

I sometimes mistakenly use "Command+Shift+p" to order auto-cleaning up polution instead of "Shift+p". And that cause crash when I hit "resume". Now I understand not to use "Command+p" combination, at least for me.

shift-p = worker automate-clean pollution only
"open-apple"-p (ie. command p) pause and goto finder.

am I the only one who won't use the "command" key. I only use the "open-apple" key. ;)
