Today the game "Manor Lords" has become available in early access, after being for a long while Steam's most anticipated game.
This city builder has been developed by a single person, and is published by Hooded Horse, who have also published Old World.
The setting of this game is in medieval Southern Germany, and your task is to build a wealthy town, research new technologies/upgrades, and maybe even field an army at the end.
The reviews so far are pretty positive, but note that more improvements are necessary, which are hopefully feasible for the full release.
Reviews:
If you want to feel like a medieval lord, the game is currently discounted down to 29.99 from 39.99, and is available on all major platforms. Get it on:

It looks pretty great. I am watching a stream right now though, and a group of like 15 brigands is attacking 100 armed militia grouped into two formations, which is super questionable in a game that seems to benefit from verisimilitude.

I don't have high hopes but I wonder if the game models money. Virtually no game does.

Overall it looks like loads of fun. I hope they make a mac version, too lazy to put my pc in operation.

That's one hell of a game for one person.

I've seen a few Cities Skylines let's players in my subscriptions on YouTube (Biffa & City Planner Plays). Seems kind of interesting that I may pick it up one day.

I came looking for a thread about this game as I have given it a little attention lately with the latest beta patch out. For anyone reading unfamiliar or interested in an update, they just added fishing, the developer hired an assistant developer to help, and they are updating it for the latest Unreal Engine. Plus, some other stuff - It does currently feel unfinished though. So this is not necessarily a plug to encourage purchase if you aren't into early access stuff. I figured an update on a 4 month old thread was due as this game interests me personally.

I don't have much time to play games lately so when I get time I struggle with which of my beloved titles I will spend time in. Lately, it has been Manor Lords because it is fairly light for me and easy to sneak in 30 minutes or an hour of play and feel like I got something out of it. Mostly due to its unfinished nature though, it is like a sandbox to play in - but long-term appeal is still lacking for me. If anyone else is enjoying the title I am curious to know if you play peaceful or standard? I have been playing standard but am having a hard time getting my economy in place before I get raided after my 3 years of armistice. I have debated upping it to 5 years or just playing peaceful - but fear I will grow bored and/or ignore military mobilization and logistics and just focus on luxury economics as I tend to do in more peaceful games. I am curious to know how others are exploring the gameplay in this title. Or even if any other civfanatics are enjoying this title for that matter. I only have about 30 hours in it so far, so I am still pretty green with its systems.
