New install...odd issues

Ok, so i recently did a clean install of W11, as i was increasing the size of my tiny ssd (thanks HP !)
As an avid civ4 fan, i remembered that the set up (on steam) for civ4 and mods was a little odd, but i was confident i could set it up correctly again.
Anyway, i reinstalled steam and civ4.
When i tried to install BAT mod, it initially flashed up a message saying i probably didnt have civ4 bts installed (looked like non steam folders listed) or it wasnt fully updated.
That was odd because i did have it installed (steam though), and it was the final release (3.19?).
Anyway, the installation box then popped up and i installed BAT mod.
I ran the game to check, and then loaded the mod from the list, and it all seemed to work fine.
I then added a line in steam properties to automatically load the the BAT mod (found on here...kudos), and reloaded the game, and that worked.
So i started a new game, and the noticed something odd...the values for research were different :

mediation 100, code of law 441, maths 315 (sb 337 ?), monarchy 378 (sb 405 ?)

Anyone had this odd issue ?

Just in case, check if a tech like The Wheel has an odd research value. Meditation, Code of Laws, Mathematics and Monarchy are (IIRC) all techs that can benefit from a prerequisite tech providing a discount, and BAT might be showing the discounted cost instead of the base cost of the tech.

The wheel is 75...that doesnt seem right either.
In all my thousands of hours of game play, i've never seen any unusual 'discount' research values (always been the standard).

There might be something else but definitely would double check difficulty, map size and speed (since new installment, could be "default" at Noble/Standard or similar) for sure - all 3 will impact research cost of each tech.

Ok, so i tried to set up a new game, using the settings i normally choose, each time i play.
Terra map, huge world size, carthage (not important, but same as pick above), warlord difficulty, normal speed.
The result was that the research costs were normal, so that implied that my original set up (per 1st post) was in someway different.
I have a just experimented with running a 'large' world size (everything else the same), and the research values are lower as per 1st post...so that's seems to be the culprit

Thanks for all the help and advice
