New Member and a New Mod

I am working on it, I'm just saying I want to complete it as quickly as possible before I don't have time to work on it.
 
Well, I'm working on a Command & Conquer Mod right now, so don't expect this to get done any time soon. I will still be working on the Warcraft mod but hardly anything will get done while I'm doing the C&C one(plus I've been toying with the idea of stopping work on this mod completely :hmm: ).

Sorry for the long silence, I'm still in but I've only random access to internet at the moment (not at home currently) so I can't post the tech trees sketches right now. I'll be able to do this somewhere in the beginning of August, I'll also try to include Boreas' ideas within.
See you in three weeks or so, I'll have consistent stuff to show :)
 
I hope you don't stop making this mod. It has been highly sought out for by many, and I want to see if Blizzard lets it continue since it's all fan art based. That way I can make the Diablo mod based on fan art.
 
@tjedge1: What do you mean this mod has been sought out by many? I've been all over these forums and haven't seen any mention of a Warcraft mod until I came around. I actually have been getting the feeling that there isn't enough interest in this project. I would also say that you can go ahead and start your Diablo mod because this thread has been here for a month and Blizzard hasn't done anything yet.

Btw, sorry to let you all down, but I have stopped working on the mod because I don't have any time to work on it and I have sort of lost interest in it :blush: . I have also stopped working on the Command & Conquer mod. The only things I'm doing with Civ3 now are a few tweaks to the epic game and some small scenarios that are only for my personal use.
 
You should look deeper into the older threads. At least every 6 months somebody started a WarCraft mod until they found out Blizzard didn't allow their art to be used. Many have attempted to do this mod, or played cheerleader to have it done, before. This is just the first time anybody attempted with fan art only. Since you say you will stop this mod anyway, can you at least post anything you've done already so someone else, like myself possibly, can attempt to finish it later on?

One of my new goals is to finish some of the unfinished fantasy mods that had potential. Like FE II, which I've already started on.

EDIT: It's not that there isn't interest. A lot of threads get quiet after a while a stay that way quite some time. My mystara mod thread was quiet for months at a time. But the Downloads thread is doing pretty well. Better than I thought it would.

And also, it takes more than a month or 2 to be all over these forums. It took me 4 months 2 years ago to go through all the unit forums to find every unit I could and it has tripled or more since that time. ;)

I know it takes a long time to go through the forums and i have been through it all (I visited this site for about two years before I registered). What I meant by the lack of interest is that whenever I would request something I would most of the time be ignored. I mean, if someone can't or doesn't want to do something for the mod that's fine, but it seems like I just get ignored when I request help while I see people practically jump through hoops to offer help other projects. My example would be with unit creation. I only requested like two or three units for the mod while the Star Wars guys (nothing against them) have this huge request list and my requests are ignored while Star Wars units are being created.

Anyway, sorry for that little rant and for letting you down by not following through with this project. Maybe I'll offer my assistance to anyone who starts this up again, but I'm certainly not going to take the lead role again.

EDIT: Perhaps if more than the three or four that were already helping start expressing some real interest, I might be persuaded to revive the mod. ;)
 
I'll help out more as soon as I get the FInal Fantasy Mod done (shouldn't be too much longer), however I've got a full time job now which has put somewhat of a crimp on my free time, however I'll try to see what I can do. For instance, due to my searches for the FF mod, I know where to find just about any apropriate unit, and I could scrounge up, say, a bunch of goblin & Orc units as well as dwarves, elves, humans and Undead units that should fill out the main unit lineups for the major factions (as well as some of the various minor "mercenary" tribes).

I completely understand you there. Although I did get some feedback when posting new threads with unit requests and then linking it to pm's I would send to the unit creators I thought would be interested. I usually got a response of 1 out of every 10 pm's I would send, and usually at least 1 poster would respond with support, ideas or pics that would help ont he thread itself. I had a list of 5 top units I really wanted for the Mystara mod. It took 2 years to get 4 of them done. Actually 3. The manscorpion is still in production as far as I know, but the Pegataur never got a bite. Not once. Getting responses to requests is a full time job, but since this is all hibby work, most creators do not respond to constant nagging. I'm not saying that's what ouy did though. Just getting that out to some who haven't got it yet. ;)

Maybe someday, if someone like Hikaro picks this up then I'll try to help out more than just vocal support. I'm still trying to get the dust to settle on the Mystara mod right now. Hikaro Takayama is good with graphix too, so he would be a great person to have helping.
 
@tjedge1: You're right, I didn't nag any of the unit creators, I think I sent one PM to aaglo and he never responded to it, and one or two to Hikaro which he had the decency to respond to.

@ Hikaro: I didn't forget about you, I do remember that you said you would help once you finished your FF mod. You and tjedge1 are two of the few people I was talking about who have provided support. I appreciate the support but I will not continue work until more support can be gathered.
 
Actually i provided graphics for the cities, and was helping with the resources until it became evident that my help wasnt that appreciated :p
anyway, a warcraft mod would have been interesting.
 
I must apologize varwnos :blush: , you did provide the city graphics and some resources, and your contributions are very much appreciated. Once again sorry if I did not give you proper credit for your help :) .

EDIT: I think it's kind of funny that there's more activity in this thread now that I'm not working on it, than when I was working on it. :lol:

I might attempt this later, probably after Civ4's release, but not for Civ 4. If I have the time. I may be in a situation with more time and money to work with, but then again, I just found out I'm going to be a dad, so I'm not sure what kind of time I'm going to have. Funny thing is, I just started working on FE II more than I had been and then I find this out. It's the same reason Balrog never completed FE II in the first place. :lol: :eek: I hope not to find that true with me though.
