New NESes, ideas, development, etc

Well, I've been thinking about my next NES. I will definitely start it sometime after SerfNES is finished, which will most likely be a long time. Here are the two ideas I have so far (thanks to various people for their good ideas):

Idea One : The NES starts in 1919 with the treaty of Versailles. Before the first update, the players of the UK, USA, France, and Italy will work together to decide the terms of the treaty, and only after that is complete will the NES move forward. I suppose part of the idea is to see how a different Treaty of Versailles would change world history, and whether NESers could make a better one than was created historically.

Idea Two : This NES would start in 1776 and would therefore include the American Revolution, and later the French Revolution, and later the revolutions in South and Central America. I don't know if this time period has been done before, and I think it would be very interesting.

I've learned an absolute ton about modding from SerfNES, and think that I'd be able to handle either of these ideas. Any thoughts?

I'd either like to see, or mod, a MovieNES, run much in the same way as the gameNES (that seems to have stopped).

It would work like The Movies game from Lionhead, everyone has a Studio, and they'd need to make movies to make money, and hire directors and actors. They'd also be able to research new things for movies.

I have some of the mechanics already in my head, I just need to put it onto digital paper. But I have several problems. What length is the time between updates should it be? (I'm thinking quaters, like GameNES) And when should we start? 1920s, like The Movies? Or 2008?

You could also launch a 1776-althis, based in SerfNES (You decide how the world evolved after the end and make a jumpstart that way.

I think that would be quite a jump though. Maybe if he started at the high middle ages and then progressed into the 1176 would be a good idea. As for my own idea for people to judge...

Another Idea

500 MYF, a new planet was discovered in an obscure area of the galaxy. These people who found this world thought much about this strange planet and thus sent several explorers to find out more about this place. I was found to contain lifeforms that were very primitive and even then it was quite barren in the forms of animal life. It did however have much forests and plant life within the area in which were thought of as bizarre. When, these explorers came back to their planet, along with the samples of everything else they had found when they went on their travels. The ruler of the governing planet decided that this planet wasn't of much strategic interest so, he made it a place in which he could dump his prisoners off to never return. But, what he didn't know about is that these people would be returning from their exodus back to the very planet everything started. Earth. Of course these people were removed of any memories of what life was like before and thus would have to start an new.

Either idea is good Head Serf, but I agree that 1776 should be scaled back a bit, maybe to the French and Indian Wars. Then, it would be interesting to see what would happen. ;)

I've been thinking, is a non-Earth developed world NES good for me to mod? I've been thinking of taking up the idea, but the problem is whether or not I can make it playable/enjoyable.

Why not take my idea. Yes, I know that it takes place on earth, but this planet would pretty much be entirely different than what we know of it today. The planet might have to be warmer than it is now to reflect the increased power of the sun. These colonies would at first be prisons in which captives are held but, then could grow larger to become nations that are independent.

What do people think of my Movie idea, or has it already been done before?

Hmm, well, it probably won't be for several weeks anyway.

@Slavic: I'd prefer a map which is totally new. As in, not Earth.
You realize that when I was talking about Earth, I saying it would be 500 million years in the future right? If not I was just giving an idea.

Ok, well, I've begun to make a map of the world in 1770. I'm using a map provided to me by Shadowbound (thank you!) and I've done the Americas. Are there any major problems so far in the Americas that I've missed or done wrong? Are there any things I need to make sure to change that would be easy to miss otherwise?

Wasn't Belize owned by the British?

And he has been working in the Americas.

@SS- I think that your return to earth idea would be better if it were less distant in the future, like only a few hundred thousand years, so humans are still around and the world is largely unchanged (geographically). The whole world as Australia all over again!

@Haseri- Sorry, I'm not really interested in the movieNES idea, though I would lurk in it.

The main point of the idea though was to have humans return to earth, when it looked entirely different than it does now, and to not be inhabited by any humans remaining on the planet. Plus, why would this nation chose to use a much younger earth as a place to hold captives, when they could have a earth that's relatively near it's croaking stage.

Mostly simplicity, and the fact that humans would have evolved beyond recognition.
True, then again some speices have hardly evolved and are still here today.
