I would have preferred a setting, somewhere between the fall of Rome and the begin of the Renaissance, and i still feel that 3D graphics are pretty pointless for a game like EU or Civ.
That being said, i look forward to reading more about it!

Another strategy game about the Roman Empire? :ack:

I agree with you Till; it would have been nice with some focus on the Dark Ages.

Well, someone could probably make a mod that includes the dark ages.

Combine this with RTW and I could die happily (after having played it for some time of course). (and still figuratively speaking, I have no interest in dying within at least 60 years)

dammit.... I was really hoping for Hearts of Iron 3 when I heard a new game would be announced

however if a new game had to be released I was hoping for either Cold War, Modern or Rome so I suppose one of those came true

I had a thought, how is it going to be different from EUIII?
It will use the EU III engine, but it will also use elements already tried out in other Paradox games, like a simplified POP's system from Victoria.

However it's a bit early to discuss the gameplay, as there is not much information available at the moment.

Maybe this time I will actually be able to find it instore

I'd also presume that the reason it only goes up to the formation of the Empire and not onwards to the fall is because they know that anybody who gets a sizeable nation in any Paradox game becomes unstoppable :p

The graphics from those initial screenshots do look a lot better than in EU3, so it's good to see it evolving (and hopefully perfected for HoI3). I still prefer the 2D of the older games though.

I wonder if you can import this into Crusader Kings?

That would be awesome, you create a nation in Ancient Times and slowly conquer the world.

Sounds like another game we all know.

Crusader Kings and EU:Rome work on different engines so it won't work. I suppose if EU:Rome went up to the same time period as EU3 you would be able to import into that.

Looks almost exactly like RTW.

It's completly different. To name one, there is no tactical layer in EU:Rome. Only grand strategy. And if you know the EU series a bit, you will know that they are very different from the Total War series.

By the way, the first beta AAR is up and running. If you want to know how the game plays, check it out!
