New Patch - Deleting Buildings

Here's an important question: What happens if you sell a courthouse?

Ironclads are pretty useless. It's better to build 10 factories and then use that production to build more frigates with unused iron (no unit should really be using iron at this point I think) then to use ironclads which are underpowered AGAIN.

In addition to being underpowered they also can't be upgraded so they are even more useless.

The weird thing is: Ironclads were never a very worthy ship. More of a historical oddity than a useful device (like the very first Tanks). I don't understand why we keep including them in games. It makes about as much sense as Airships in civ 4 did.

The designation "ironclad" is a bit of a misnomer. If you look at the artwork and positioning relative to other naval vessels, it's more like a pre-dreadnought (coast defense) battleship rather than something à la Merrimack/Monitor like in previous civ iterations.

And those saw extensive use for roughly 50 years.

I think the ironclad has always been the devs way of trying to fill the massive gap between destroyers and frigates.

It's may be viable to build a heroic epic now and then sell off all your barracks, bar one.

That's why i prefer Cv IV economic system and i despise the Civ III\V maintainance of buildings...

Destroying the building to take avantage of the game mechanics is just silly, I can't think of someone destroying the city museum because it is worthless...

Just thinking that, as a builder, is a strike to heart....

-A Circus once more efficient forms of building happiness are available (it's three gold maintenance for three happiness)

Only colosseum is more effecient than a circus in terms of happiness (3 gold for 4 happiness) the rest are worst. 5 gold, 6gold for 4 happiness.

Actually, buildings get torn down all the time in real life. The only reason why the city museum is still standing is because it has some cultural value. Once it is is truly "worthless", you can bet that it will get torn down to make way for a new shopping mall or something.

Or in this game, you can knock down your stadium to make way for a new coliseum elsewhere.

Wait until you're steamrolling, then sell all happiness buildings, courthouses, workshops. Annex all puppets. Go to town with negative one billion happiness and lowered maintenance. :)

The dusk of civilization..... And you are the one that is beating the fundations...

At least change it with a new museum, as it happens in the real world...

yup, altho i usually play with 2 cities anyways, the rest are all puppets.

unless i really think i can play it economically without getting rushed first.

Well, you can always beeline an important military tech, sell all your buildings except your barracks and mass-produce or rush-buy units.

A bit too much "all-in" for my taste though

Question: While razing a city, are their buildings sold automaticaly?
If "yes", my micromanaging doing so was surplus.
If "no", this is an other usefull purpose to sell buildings: to get (more) gold out of razing citys.

They are not sold. But I don't know if you can sell them while the city is being razed, probably you can.
