• 📚 Admin Project Update: I've added a major feature to PictureBooks.io called Avatar Studio! You can now upload photos to instantly turn your kids (and pets! 🐶) into illustrated characters that star in their own stories. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

New Promotions: 100x100 avatar and 300 PMs!

Few pictures of 100 X 100 have less than 6kb in size, at least that's what I'm coming up against right now.

EDIT: Hmm I've managed something. For people having problems, I suggest transforming JPEGs to GIFs and reducing the number of colors. I guess some of this requires photoshop or a similar program.

I just use gifworks.com

It's free and easy.

You can save a copy of a pic with most pic viewing or editing software. When you do that many of them give you the option of the quality of the save. Just reduce that till you hit the filesize you want.

This is distracting? (Other than in it's cuteness?)

I just wanted to say thanks. Recently, in my experience, the benevolence of the moderators knows no bounds :)

Crazy English tanks I mean, we appreciate your very English thanks. :)

I appreciate the changes, but I don't understand why people need 300 PMs in the first place. Or 200 for that matter. I wipe mine when I get them, and don't really understand why other people don't do likewise.

Brings up an interesting question. What happens if a person is infracted when their PM memory is full?

Actually I already upped it to 6 KB. Forgot to mention it in the news post.... :)

PS: Moderators now can have up to 10 KB, and more PM space. But they have the same 100x100 size for avatars.

So when am I going to become a Moderator again to get my 10kb? :p

If you have Irfanview, when saving a picture as a jpg or gif, you can set a file size limit. Most of the time it will end up a bit over it so I suggest setting it to something like 5.95kb

6144 bytes. Fifty's avatar that I made for him is 6055 and he's using it fine.

I (my avatar) Looks good being bigger :)

Lazy. And I like to be able to reference them.

Ah, I should have known laziness would be the answer. Laziness is always the answer.

Great news! Thanks a lot for the improvements. The extra PM space is especially appreciated, as I was just about to have to go deleting a bunch to free up some space. :)
