3. In which mode should we play(in single player mode or multiplayer mode)?
4. Which rules will we have in the game?
For example:
- Is citybribe allowed?
-Is unit bribe allowed?
-Is all wonders allowed and which wonders are possible in this senario?
-Which alliances- and teamwork rules are in use?
-Tech trading OK?
-Tech stealing OK?
-Are we allowed to study the whole start position(all civs cities and units and terrain maps)?
-During the game, are we only allowed to see our own map as in a normal MP game?
ad. 1: indeed a subfolder to your scenario-folder. Imp1870 will do.
ad.2: difficulty is set by the first player (darius has done so)
ad.3: When it is your turn:
- Multiplayer/network/TCP/load a saved MP-game/ select the save game you downloaded from the thread (note: ot must be stored in your Imp1870 folder)/play your turn/save/attach save game to your message here/DONE
ad. 4: See peregrine's notes. I guess everybody can study the starting map as much as they like? Not sure though. In other PBEM scenarios you are usually able to download the files before you pick your civ, so you would have looked at them all to determine which one you want.
I don't think the following was mentioned in the guide, but I think it should not be allowed to download games from the thread before it is your turn. In my first PBEM I did, to check on the progress of battles I was involved in, but it had the nasty side effect that civ's that should still play their turn would be played by the AI untill it was my turn again, which would sometimes reveal valuable information on what units they would have. We all know how the AI likes to attack with defensive units from cities f.e.
Also, no talks with AI can be held unless allowed by the respective player. Upon contact the emissaries must be send back.
VERY IMPORTANT: don't forget to Ctrl-N at the end of your turn with just one unit active, if you don't it will very probably mess up the position of your units, and this could also mean AI-emissaries conducting large scale tech-trade. I have it seen quite often that people end up with techs they didn't ask for. Usually good for the receiving party, but bad for the one leading the tech-race. And it can very well not be his fault.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST: you need a utility called LazyCiv. I think this is also mentioned in the PBEM-guide. There are two kinds though: Version 2.2 (?) for rtegular MGE/FW, and a LazyCiv Costum if you have the MGE upgrade/ addon to regular Civ (2.42)
