New to Civ...apparently with a common PBEM issue...

Issue is that even with the correct Hotmail SMTP information, it's still failing to send.

I've found several year old questions regarding this problem and from what I can tell is that Hotmail works. I'm in agreement with many that manually emailing the file is going to kill our interest quick, so any help in resolving my problem would be greatly appreciated.

At this in-game screen...

Enter E-mail address for [Host]:

[ opponents@hotmail.c*m ]

SMTP Server:

[ smtp.live.com ]

Username for SMTP Secure Password Authentication (if required)

[ myemail@hotmail.c*m ]

Password for SMTP Secure Password Authentication (if required)

[ myhotmailpassword ]

Don't Send
Send

I'm assuming the above information is correct, yet I'm still receiving the *Failed to send e-mail message.

My internet provider is AT&T but from what I can tell, that's not the issue. Could someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong?

Almost every PBEM player does NOT use this email functionality as it doesn't (always) work correctly.

We just send the turns via normal mail..

This makes my Fast Workers drag their feet in disappointment.
