Hey, I'm new to Civ 3, and I just started playing one of the Test of Time games (came with Civ 3 complete), large map with cities, and I see that whoever made it has a few different unit pictures for the same units of different cultures.

So this lead me to think, can you make unique units for all civilizations? In effect, making 32 different warrior units, horseman units, etc?

I appologise in advance if this an obvious question. I've read some of the customized unit forums, but without having much experience with this version of the game, I'm not really sure what I'm reading half the time.

Look in the "Completed Mods" section -- Many of these, already complete, mods have numerous unique units (fan made) already in each different nation. Same thing with the Completed Scenarios.

Have fun!

To help with your reading here as you go through the modpacks and scenarios...when there are units such as a French warrior and a German warrior and a Chinese warrior, etc, etc...those are usually referred to as "flavor" units, as they are used more for aesthetics than actual differences in game play.

But so far as anyone making all original civs with their own complete line of flavor units, I haven't seen it as of yet... (someone can correct me if I'm wrong, of course)

Ya the work comes in puttin in the diverse selection of new units even if they have the same att/def.

Once they have been added, sounds plugged in, pedia written, anyone can then go and change their numbers to whatever they choose.

THe 2 newest mods thatr go the level what the OP talks about are Far Horizons (atleast 800units) and Balancer Reloaded.(800-900 units)

Of course you adding more techs, wonders and even strategic resources to spwan them. It ends up being expanded in all depts like a Xpak. I like mods like these. FarHorizons even has a awesome soundtrack with era changing diplo music included

Steph's been working on that for about a century now.

Steph actually released a version for PTW a long time ago, it has tons of units too. Although it's not been updated since.

How about a mod pack that just has different units for the different cultures (for lack of a clearer term), like Asian units, European units, African units, etc..

Has anyone done that yet? The TETurkens (spelling?) one that came with Civ 3 Complete I think may have done that, but it also uses a lot of non-standard civilizations.

I'm off to find the Far Horizons and Balancer Reloaded mods. Thanks TA Jones.

Hi LoboKhan! If you are interested, take a look at my Mod - The Age of Colonization. There were a lot of unique units for each civilisation. I have searched all over the forum to find a maximum number possible of differents units to add to my Mod.

If you check out the Medieval Europe Mod (MEM) It has different units for the Christians and the Muslims and many unique units besides. :)

Almost any well done Mod out there has many uus and or flavor units (units that have identical stats but different graphics)
